I had the wrong impression of Alex Arthur. He came across as a top bloke on Ringside today, well spoken, knew his stuff and a relaxed personality.

He could be a quality addition to sky`s punditry team.

Totally agree, I thought the same.

Alex is a top guy. He would be a good pundit. He's now a promoter aswell now so might be in the studio more well he retires

He seems to be getting moved toward a media career a bit more these days - was on ringside and mini-column in boxing news in the same week. I agree he came across well.

Alex is a good lad and came accross very well....

Such a shame how his ring career has turned out. Waited way too long on guzman, didn't fight enough and generally was unlucky with timing throughout his career. I thought he was a special talent and should have achieved far more.

I always thought that he would achieve more than Scott Harrison as he seemed to posesses more talant.

However in retrospect Harrison achieved far more, although he relied far more on strength and size than finese.

AAA was indeed a fine fighter but never ever in the class of Scott Harrison or Ricky Burns the proofs in the results my friend,the truth be known AAA and Scott very rearly even sparred in the gym

Burns fought his 14th fight against Arthur who was going into the ring for the 23rd time.
Arthur had been eating up 12 rounders and that was burns' first, and he went the distance.

Taking no credit away from Arthur, i think he was a great boxer but they both crossed paths at a time which suited Arthur.
Burns would definitely blow him away now as Arthur is well on the slide as-well as heavier but lets be serious, Arthur or Burns at their best?

Arthur looked huge for a former super-featherweight, especially as he was sat next to Cleverly.

I really rated Arthur, prob one of the best technically i've ever seen from these shores. At least modern day (as in since the 90's). Seems a nice bloke.

Met him at the Burns Ivenson fight (Whatever he was called) and Arthur came across as brand new.
I was surprised as ive heard a lot of people bad mouth him in the past but he was sound and came across well on Ringside aswell so fair play to him.

Alex made a cool comment on how highly he rates Gavin which was nice. Billy Nelson made me laugh, "the proof is in the results" Alex beat Ricky up, fact !

Can't be doing with him myself I think he is an aggorant twat..............Him and Watt on Sky ? people will turn off in their droves!.....I don't think he was that a talented definitely one of the most overated boxers in the last 20 years! Gomez took him too school, Nicky Cook was average and Nigel Wright ?

Came across brilliantly, seems to know his stuff and gets his opinions across brilliantly!

Harrison >Arthur > Burns

Alex was a top pedigree amateur as well - CG Gold Medalist fought in the worlds as well. A bit of a blether but still entertaining to watch!

Sorry billy but Arthur at his best was several leagues above burns and thats how it looked when they fought. Arthur would have stopped martinez imo. Burns was very fortunate to get a shot at a world title while Arthur waited years while being rate in the top 3 by ring. Burns was immense against martinez and after beating the divisions number 1 he should have stamped his authority all over the division. Instead hes fought terrible domestic level opponents and has completely lost the momentum that had people even in the states raving about him. He's a non-factor in the thoughts of the sfws who truly want to be the best. Harsh but true I'm afraid.

My favourite fight of all time. Partly because i was there and the atmosphere was the best i've been in. still watch it about once a month!

I completely disagree. I don't think Arthur ever proved he was really a top level world operator and has done nothing to suggest he would have beat Martinez. I would have said the same about Ricky before the Martinez fight though. Arthur was close to his best at the time of the Burns fight and Ricky has improved immeasurably since (despite his annoying habit to fight to his opponents level) and I think Ricky of today would have matched Arthur at his best.

I agree about Ricky losing momentum with his defences, they have been poor, but lets not forget he only won the title in Sept last year and is about to have had his third defence. Unfortunately for the fans, its also about making as much money as you can - so I can understand why Ricky is having a few money spinners at the moment. Ricky himself is also desperate for unification fights but he is not the one making the fights, unfortunately for us.....

he knows his stuff awrite. would be a good addition to sky but he sounds like he has a desire to fight on. he's quite adamant he can still do something. hope he does.

A very intelligent man, and knows his stuff, he will do well do well with the media. Bloody nice man too.
