As we all know curtis is a poster on this forum. After seeing the highlights of his fight big respect has to go out to CURTIS.

Please think about his life choice he was a well payed footballer and he chose this sport. Hard work, miles in the car, no fat pay check each month and a total change of lifestyle.

Tonight Curtis managed to even win on 1 judges card against the only English amateur champion ever who could not even make the weight.(very poor form)

Curtis you done yourself and all those involved in your journey proud tonight.

Agreed and if the fight had been at 140lbs as billed then maybe Curtis could have gone one better and pulled off the victory.

I do hope Curtis uses this moral victory and performance as a platform to aim for English and British titles at 140 lbs although maybe have a rematch against Peter McDonagh first and revenge his loss like he did with Jay Morris.

massive respect to Curtis, superb achievement to push such an accomplished and richly experienced boxer like Frankie Gavin since he's had relatively little time in the game...hope there's a rematch

Split decision was the last result I expected, Curtis must feel some vindication after being told he was only there because of the City link and that he wouldn't win a round....

I said it would go past 6 rounds and tbh i thought i was being genarious, i thought someone of Frankie's class getting in against an opponent without even any Am Fights would be a walk in the Park.. Goes to show how much i know about Boxing....

I thought Frankie would stand Curtis on his head. As it turned out Curtis gave him a real fight and a genuine test.

Also can I gave a special mention to Glyn Rhodes who has been training Curtis recently.
Strangely this result leaves the weight issue as a live issue.
Anyone who understands boxing knows that 4lbs can make a lot of difference - aside from the fact that we will probably never know Gavin's weight come fight night.
Rematch ? Don't think there's a prayer of that.
I hope that Curtis' Promotor acknowledges how well Curtis performed and gets him the oppertunties he craves.

I'd like to see him get an English title shot at Bramall Lane or something like that

Deadpan I think he deserves an English title fight on the back of this performance/result..... I wouldn't object to Woodhouse against the winner of the Cook/Theophane as a voluntary defence.

Its a great story. I've always been impressed with how quickly he is learning his trade and is a fit lad. I think last night showed that he is a fighter. He has a right to object in interviewers that label him a footballer come boxer - he showed infront of a big audience, against a world class amateur that he is very much a decent boxer.

Well done, Curtis. You did better than almost all of us thought you would. You also seem like a nice guy. What spirit you must have. Keep it up.

I doubt Frankie has the discipline, dedication and power to succeed at world level.

McGuigan was spot on with his comments on Frankie afterwards, but huge respect to Woodhouse for fighting a great fight.

I CAN'T WAIT to see ig Gavin pops his head up back on here, Curtis took it too him and showed the differance between the pros & ams, Funtime has a style that is well suited for computer scoring.

Where as Curtis has simply got bigger nads, so well done Curtis (a moral victory but it looked like you were the winner to me) you had the eye of the tiger last night man!

As for "Funtime"...........Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Didn't see the fight as I'm on holiday but I've said for a long time that Gavin is seriously overrated. Yes, he's good technically but his lack of power will severely hamper him at anything close to world level and the fact that Warren is bringing him along so slowly shows his lack of belief that Gavin has world class potential at the moment.

All respect to Curtis and well done but if Gavin is struggling at this sort of level I'd hate to think what would happen a level above.

yes well done to him, i thought he wasn't going to get a look in at all.

He suprised me with his defense, as before i'd found him to be open to a counter when loading up his own punches, but he kept the distance right and knew when to attack.

He can definatly hold his own on the domestic front, and a challange for the British title shouldn't be far off.

no excuses this time gavin, no cold to moan about, the weight was in your favour....(for once and for the first time so far in your professional career) you were against a fighter who tried to win!!

fair play to frankie gavin, looks like he has come on in a different thread, more respect for answering the fans than hiding, well done frankie and good luck in the future.

I only saw the highlights, but it looked like an excellent performance from Curtis. I think he surprised everyone last night - not least Frankie Gavin.

I'm made up for him, even though he didn't win it was definitely a moral victory and he should be proud of himself.
