Sorry in advance as I'm sure this is a really dull question but I've been wondering how much do people typically spend sponsoring a boxer and what do they hope to get out of it?

I'm not talking about big companies sponsoring known fighters, more about small companies who sponsor people just turning over or to allow guys to train full time? Do they do it out of the goodness of their hearts or do they expect to get some financial cut if their fighter makes it big?

PS - its worth saying I'm skint and not looking to sponsor anyone, was just wondering how it works

a mate of mine was sponsered by orange before , this is football rather than boxing m but he was an unknown ,playing for boston united , he had to wear their logo on a tracksuit in any publicity he may have got , not a bad deal when he may not got too much publicity other than local newspaper or radio coverage .

I've sponsored at amateur level, usually a bout here and there, the money is towards the trophies and a shout out on the night - Done a bit with some of the lads with personalised kit and what not, it's more a goodwill gesture tbh. I certainly don't expect anything out of it in return.

I used to be sponsored by a local electrical firm&they brought me me kit,Shorts,Vest,Robe&a tracksuit with there name on along with my club name,thats all they wanted&they used to sponser my home club bouts(give out trophys etc)and there company name got mentioned ..
