% Of Women at Boxing Events

Now from the ones i've been to, it all depends on the size of the venue/fight. I only tend to see a few at the small hall shows and at the bigger arena types it tends to increase slightly. Still, it's not a significant amount.

I've never thought much of it until i read the following from Khan:
Khan claimed that of the near 20,000 tickets sold for his victory over Paul McCloskey in Manchester in April, just less than two-thirds of them were bought by women, although that did not seem borne out on the night.
i wasn't there that night so i'm not really in any position to comment but i have to say i find this hard to believe. I'd be suprised if they made up 20% at a push. Was anyone who attended the McCloskey fight shocked by the amount of women there or are times changing and there are more women at the boxing or is this Khan generating headlines?

so women bought over 12000 tickets for the khan fight? Who said that? Khan? He's plucking figures out of thin air again. Were there actually 20K people there? looked more like about 10K to me.

Khan is maybe Britains answer to De La Hoya?

If there were 14,000 there they must have been well hidden, and I don't mean behind a burka :DD

That's pretty much what i was thinking. Either that or his fans had their mums buy the tickets and he's counting the purchasers as attendees

Slightly off topic, but my wife has just come up to me and said "Fury's on Channel 5" as in he is going to be fighting on saturday. I, meanwhile, have not seen a single bit of promo. Maybe young Tyson is going to be the poster boy for boxings terrestrial future, attracting an army of aussie soap watching housewives and CSI loving nerds? (Apologies to those of you who are fans of Neighbours and CSI but are neither a housewife or a nerd.)

There was about 16k at the MEN.

If there was more than 2k female Khan fans in the arena I will eat his contract with SKY!

Deluded, misguided, simple, thoroughly unlikable young chap.

The only women at Boxing should be the ringcard girls. Maybe the fighters mum if she can bear to watch.

The rest should be barred.

It actually inspired me to show off a lot in my amateur days when there were babes in the audience, especially when they were verbally rooting for the other guy!

So true but for their own benefit :o ,

I remember i went to with the missus to the O2 to watch Haye v macrinelli, lol never forget inbetween fights going for a beer and there were a group of pissed up fellas having a fight.......then, she needed the loo so i said i'd wait outside for her (rather than go back to me seat)....she came out shocked....there were quite a few blokes in the womens toilets smoking and doing 'other things' etc.......

I even had someone ask if i was a dealer while i was stood with her :o

No place for women for sure, but for the record she has been with me to York Hall a couple of times since and enjoyed it. and i saw a few girls there....very small percentage though.

Roll on Satdi neeeeeet!!

Small hall shows, apart from family and friends, they are not too many women. The "events", you get loads, all dolled up and with roidhead wannabes.

This story has reminded me of a story about a woman at the boxing. Was a Hatton fight at the MEN, can't remember who against. This woman must have been about 40, looked like she was with her sons and family (nowhere near 2/3s women) and she was fairly dolled up and in high heels. Must have been her round so off she trotts and comes back with a rake of beers back down the steps to her seat. She slips, falls and the beers go flying up and over a few people. Rather than checking if she's ok, the people she's with started a count for her!

Personally I like to see women at boxing shows, cos most I see you would. They tend to get really dolled up in short skirts and titty push ups. Makes for very good purving.

Although, you also get the sight of that woman who doesn't realise she doesn't look good with that much flesh on show. Oh well, some blokes go for that.

A close mate of mine went to Frankie Gavins fight at the NIA with his Missus, the night when there was alot of trouble in the crowd. He said "I was terrified! never mind the missus". He reckons it was full of pissed up animals just looking for a fight, he said he'll watch them on the telly from now on

Mag 7? A few big fights, and a brutal KO just before Enzo's.

Lad in the green shirt wasn't it. That was a more chilling ko than Enzo's too!

Last time I took my missus to a boxing event was Hatton v Maussa and after the event outside she sought out and promptly kicked the shit out of some manc tart who was sat a few rows from us and had been yelling the word "spic" in every other sentence(Mrs Banjo is a Mexican-American you see so she doesn't like that word). I wouldn't take her to one again, too many idiots like that bint who she splattered, besides boxing is a mans sport, women should be at home.

Yeah from a lad in a blue shirt if I remember right. Could see it coming, he was out of it before he got hit for the final time too. I honestly thought someone was gonna go over the barrier.
