Does Barker sell tickets and will he take a large group of supporters to the US for the Martinez fight?

It appears to me that the Americans and HBO seem to have been swayed by the fact that UK fighters tend to have fans that travel and make a lot of noise, which leads to a bigger gate and an all round better atmosphere. I wonder if this is what led to Barker being approved as an opponent.

From what I've been reading this week, the attendance at Khan-Judah was below expectations at 7,000 or thereabouts.

Even with Froch against Johnson, the arena was very small and apparently not filled, despite doing good numbers in Nottingham previously. Will Barker offer any more in terms of travelling fans than Froch?

I may be wrong, but it seems the biggest UK venue he has fought at was at Ally Pally as chief support for Harrison-Sprott. Did any of you attend his last fight against Spada at Olympia, or any of his recent fights before that, and what was the attendance like?

I don't think so really, not basing that on any facts though.

7k for the Khan fight in Vegas isn't bad, it's not like Judah brought any of those.

He was meant to have sold around 2000 for the magnificent 7 bill before he pulled out with injury. I imagine he sell about 500 tops for this which is not bad.

No he's not, his last fight against Spada at Olympia was empty, must only of been at 1100 fans, and you got to take in account that the undercard fighters sell around 100 tickets each plus he had the evangelou brothers on the card and they usually sell around 500 tickets between them, so taking that in to account he must of only sold around 200 tickets max, so no not a big ticket seller. And if you take all of this in account only a small % of his fans will travel, so he will be lucky to have 50 people in Atlantic City cheering him on.

There aren't many big ticket sellers in British boxing the proven ones are Haye Khan and Froch each can raw 10k in the UK Mitchell drew 15k once but hard to tell if that is his following or what i must say was very good promotion by allegedly. Paul Smith can draw a consistent 5k in Liverpool. Who else are big draws?

Haye and Khan yes, Froch I'm not sure about, how many fans travelled to the US in June, but I guess it's not many was it? and I'm guessing not many people will go out for his fight against Ward.

Not sure about figures but Groves carries a fair crowd, has done since the ams.

have you not heard his support on tv?? barker has a good following & he's boxed on terrestral tv.everyone in british boxing watches him closely. he's undefeated & hasnt come close to getting beat.

Groves had huge support at The O2. I saw Mitchell in Manchester and he had no more than 50 there.

McCloskeys Dudey Army march in numbers. Rogie can sell but going into Sexton II with an injury knocked a lot of that.

The only real ticket seller in Ireland, Casey can do about 2k but usually 500. None of the Dublin fighters are sellers. Tough times and no replacement for Dunne.

Will Mccloskey sell out his next fight? I know he has had big support in the past.

I'd say they have a good chance of filling it alright.

They have Frampton-Kiko on the bill as well so that means that fans of both colours and both sides of the border will be interested but the main draw will be from a 10 mile radius of Dungiven especially as there is a big fight planned for Eamonn O'Kane as well.

We shall see.
