did they ever catch the scumbags? I hope so.
Maybe they were planning on kidnap him to the Kronk to teach him how to fight?

Fightfans,
What was exactly was your motivation in resurrecting this from 8 years ago ?
It is all well trivialising this, but at the time it was very unpalateable for Johnny, his family, and close friends.

Yeah, as a world champion he definitely needed some help.

Saxon,
You really need therapy.
Your hang up about Sheffield and a particular gym is having a serious impact upon your life.
A retired undefeated World Champ needs to be taught to fight.
What about his opponents in the numerous World title defences ?
By the way, did you know that Saxon are a rock band from SOUTH YORKSHIRE ?
Is that what inspired your name ?
Originally they were known as SOB. Son of a Bitch.

Dan, joking aside did they ever catch the guys? I hope so what a trully horrible ordeal for any family to go through.
I really like Nelson btw seems like a lovely guy.
BTW I dont recognise the WBO unless its an obvious champ they have like Calzaghe if you see what I mean.
Johnny was never the man in the division but a veryu very good fighter.

I'm in therapy mate,
Now on to your words....
First off FF's dont you know who I am? I am a fuking kung fu legend! (ask around) Havent you saw me in 'Enter The Dragon 4'? (admitedly it was a porn i made with Olive from 'On The Busses' when the work dried up)
Secondly Saxon (the band ) sucked testis, however the Human League, ABC, Caberet Volitaire etc etc did not!!
There are so many things to love about Sheffield... just not the "Flawed Ingle style"
Now go learn to smile young man.

I don't believe the police ever did catch em mate. I think it's right to say that people have a good idea who was behind it though.
Really horrible and nasty and shows that some people can be pretty much evil on occasions.
Johnny is a great bloke and an absolute credit to the sport. Has time for anybody and talks with great insight and intelligence about the sport, especially the psychological side of things.
I also used to love watching him fight - a real crafty defensive technician. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like the skills and finer points of the art, Johnny was your man ...

Good post and it's a shame they never caught them though.
BTW Dan I think I hgave pegged you wrong, I did think you were are the wind up with the gym thing, if so then I'm sorry.
However please bear in mind in the future that I am nuttier than a squirrel turd (to people who know me) and you should expect what you will percieve to be very odd dark, black humoured responces from a man who clearly can't spell for toffie.
You see my mind is not like most people.(and that's official btw)
You see I put the gloop in my best brown boots and I put the zing in the zinga zang zing song.
That said I am the most knowledgeable cretin on this forum

I'm looking forward to a few match ups this year.............
But nothing will beat Twenty-Six vs Jon Saxon
It's certainly building up boys !!
For the record, i have messaged and posted with both you guys, so i wish you could sort out your differences and just not in any circumstances ever mention the Ingle gym again
Whilst we are on the subject, i have to disagree Jon with your statement about Johnny Nelson. He may not have been the best around at that weight, but from how his career started in comparison to how it ended, the guy has perhpas been the biggest succes story to come out of the Wincobank establisment. Johnny retired in almost the best phase of his career, fought all over the place, moved up to heavyweight for a few fights, became cruiserweight world champion, made a few quid and doesn't have a mark on him. Call me biased, but i would say that is proof that the "Ingle style" should be seen with a lot of respect. Also, Johnny kept that style and refined it as the years went by and kept with Brendan, which is where i feel Hamed and Graham made their biggest mistakes. They both left the Ingle set up and to a degree both moved away from that style, in particular Hamed.

Brendan Ingle has told me on a few occasions that his biggest success story is Johnny 'Brokeback' Nelson.
OK, I added the 'Brokeback' but the point is that when he began, Nelson was terrible apparently. But he showed great tenacity and learned a lot.
OK too, he's been involved in the two worst 'world' title fights I've ever seen but to come back from that and have a great career, all marbles intact, a good few quid and a media career...wow, that's some achievement.
