Responding to the question of why he pulled out of the fight, Peter said,” Frank Maloney managed me before Dean Powell and he ruined my career by moving me around the weight classes. I weighed 12 stone nine and I was up at cruiser and even fighting 16 stone heavyweights.” (NB - In fairness to Maloney, although Oboh did fight Garry Delaney and Scott Welch in '97, his last five fights, since 2001, have all been at light-heavy - Ed.)

“I've had an elbow problem for years. I first damaged it when sparring Calzaghe in Wales. I had to spar while I couldn't get fights. Before Dr. Soya [the BBBofC's doctor] told me I couldn't fight Oakey last time [the pair had been due to fight six months ago] because of the elbow, Frank put me on sales commission where I had to sell tickets to pay my own purse.”

“Last night, I was due to get far less money than when I fought Andy Lowe last time out. Even though my right elbow had gone again, I could still have stopped Oakey with my left. But after I knocked Oakey out on Sky, there wouldn't be anymore fights in the future. I may have needed to pay for an operation out of my purse if the elbow went badly again.”

“So I decided it wasn't worth the risk and to make a protest. In a way, you have to leave it late to do that.”

“These promoters think that they can do what they like, but they are destroying boxing. Bonin is a body, even Harrison stopped him. They need to make even fights.”

In response to his future, Peter said,” I'll probably retire. I'm already a Pastor here and I'd like to use he fact people know me to help the poor out in Nigeria.”

This guy is a prime example of why boxing sucks at times.

He could have won a title no probs.

I think Choi's career has went the same way also.

Yes I do, he was a real dangerman and if he had been sent to the US to learn to box better I think he could have been a title holder of sorts.
I think he may have beat Clinton Woods.
