That means that DiBella has the three best middleweight on the planet signed to him.

Macklin, Martinez and Lee. The Holy Trinity.

What's the deal with Macklin then - someone said on here that he fancies himself as a businessman?

Well he was studying Law at uni when he won the ABAs and dropped out to turn pro, so I would say its fair to say that he might be marginally more intelligent and switched on than your average pug.

If he fancied himself as a businessman then he would have "businesses" or at least trying to be his own promoter, however, I would say that being a little more switched on he is more likely to switch promoters if they dont produce what they say they are going to.

How many boxers have we seen waste their career by waiting for their promoter to produce the goods?

They were making out that he was a lawyer when he frist signed with F- warren

If hes increasing his cash by moving around promoters then fair play too him

hes a top fighter too

Promoted right you would assume Lee v Macklin would be a big fight in the right city.

What does this mean for the rematch vs Sturm..... having watched the fight again, I'm not sure its a good move. I didn't realise quite how badly Macklin was hurt in the last round. I think Sturm would have got the KO in the 13th round.

Sturm Ko's Mathew in a rematch.

Signing with an American waters down his identity even more if you ask me.

But that aside I hope he gets into a few world class fights as a result.

Lou Dibella is my favourite of the Americans.

I think he's blown his chance of a re-match by changing promoters yet again.

Agreed,
Sturm Ko's Mathew in a rematch.
Agree, Sturm knows what to expect now so will win the rematch quite easily

He didn't have a promoter going in against Sturm did he? He finished with Warren earlier thisear, and was going to sign a big money American deal (starting with the Wright fight in April) but obviously that all went tits up. Then he was going to fight on the Khan card under Hatton promotions but the Sturm offer came in. So he was a free agent.

Can't believe the amount of stick he gets to be honest. People are quick to put the boot in if promoters are slow/ unwilling to match their fighters or get them suitable chances. Macklin goes where he believes he will be best off. At least when it's all said and done he can hold his hands up and have no complaints.

Sturm offered him the same deal for the rematch as the original fight - 3 options.

If Sturm is the superstar you seem to think he is, and if so confident he will win, why didn't he offer a better deal to make sure it happened?

I'd imagine this is a good move for Macklin, DiBella loves the sport and seems to back his fighters up well but this is only this impression I've got.

He's the world champion, why does he need to give macklin a better deal? I certainly wouldn't

Of course, by the same token, Macklin knows what to expect and could therefore win the rematch.

just a hunch but I think that Macklin can't do any better but I have seen Sturm fight much better at range using the jab.

Could be wrong though but I think Sturm's plan was hopeing that Matt would tire like in the Moore and other recent fights and ko him but it back fired, I think Strum will start faster this time and wear him down.

Hope not though as Macklin seems like a nice fella.

Does this mean, then, that:
1) The Sturm rematch isn't going to happen?
and 2) Macklin will fight the winner of Martinez vs Barker?
