I know it was a month ago now, but I still gonna give Curtis more props.

99% of Boxing fans gave him NO chance against Frankie Gavin. I'll be the 1st to admit, I also gave him little chance.

Curtis had already been defeated by Jay Morris & Peter McDonagh. So techinacally what chance did he have against Gavin?

Gavin was ABA Champion, Commowealth Games Gold Medalist, & Britians ONLY ever Amatuer World Champion. And here he was facing a man, who'd NEVER boxed amatuer and never started the sport until the age of 25.

Even Gavin seemed to show Woodhouse little to no respect.

But Curtis goes out and proves all the douters wrong, giving Gavin the fight of his life and losing a razor close SPLIT Decision. And a few of my friends actually thought Woodhouse had done enough to win it.

For someone who never boxed amatuer and never took up the sport until 25 and lose a razor tight decision to Britians hottest prospect, is a amazing story.

Woodhouse is a pretty inspiriational story, for fighters coming into the game late or having no amatuer fights.

x2 Curtis is a freak really, he has done unbelievably well, a few thought he beat Gavin too

Yep. 95% of current Britian Boxers have boxed amatuer. For Curtis to have NEVER boxed amatuer and take up the sport up at such a late age and ARGUBALY defeat a undefeated amatuer world champion, is a damn amazing achievement.

Deserves all the credit in the world.

Great post he deserves massive respect, top kid in and out of the ring

I was thinking the same the other day, its amazing what he's achieved and to knock the financial security of football on the head takes balls.

And to prove to the boxing community that he's not just some story and prove that not only does he belong in the pro game but excels at it is something else.

So much respect for Curtis.

thanks for the kind words guys hoping to fight again soon i fractured my right elbow a week before the fight so ive not been able to get back in the gym, ive got another week on the sidelines then hopefully get some fights that will get me towards that british title i promised my dad id win,as for no amatuer fights ideally it wasnt the best way to go but i was no spring chicken and have 2 kids to feed so i thought if i was gunna get punched in the nose it was better to do it for money so i had to learn as i went along but ive been very lucky ive had some very good teachers along the way

Curtis....obviously you enjoyed a successful career on the pitch, big money transfers etc....... were you wise enough to invest some of your earnings then? signing on fees etc?.. are you financially secure for life or do you need to box for dosh to survive?

Question for the rest. How far could Woodhouse have gone had to chose boxing a a career earlier on?

i was very lucky to earn good money through out my footie career and had a very good financial advisor that invested money into things for me that are doing well i also have a very good pension but all my pension and invested money was all geared towards me retiring from football at 35 which is the age that you can draw your pension from football,so my boxing money which isnt much is what id been getting by on thats why i continued to play part time footie to bring in a regular wage it has been a real struggle financially the last 5 years just getting by, ive recently got a sponser in whitestone soliceters that have helped me with all my training costs which has enabled me to box full time without having to play footie which has helped me progress faster because ive been able to train more and work on things without having to miss days in the gym because of football, so basically most of my money i earned from footie has been put aside but i cant touch it for another 4 years which if i honest suits me fine boxing is about struggle and i found in my football career the more money i earned the less i trained, so im happy to struggle along with my boxing career and when ive hung up my gloves at 35 ill reap the rewards of a career in football hope that answers your question

I need to pay more attention when reading titles. I was expecting to read something about Mad House for some guy called Curtis

Im one of them one's that came on here and didnt Give Curtis a Chace NOT even a slim one, it was'nt Curtis as a person it was as a Boxer with he's experence going in against a AM World Champon, iv sparred with people that Beat Curtis and im 5 odd weights lighter and i didnt do bad against him held my own easy, also Sparred a spar a boxer that Boxed Given i think it was in the Euro Finals, Gavin beat him easy, this fella Played with me i could even hit him. I was weighing it up and didnt didnt think it would even go the distance.... Dont know you as a person and aint seen you fight much but i take my Hat of to ya

I was thinking about this subject the other day aswell and it shows how much Curtis is improving just shows what you can do when you have a good coach or coaches, discipline, determination and a goal!!! Well done Curtis proved me wrong aswell i didnt think you'd do aswell as you did too

woodhouse is a great great athlete.....ive liked him since his fiorst fight.
