I think it's mainly the duration of the bouts - i.e 4 or 6 rounders.

Often it's called by the referee and if he thinks no fighter has bossed the other, especially when there are lots of supporters present, they seem to just go for the draw.

Would you agree in terms of trying their not a lot of point if their getting paid anyway. I watched jody meikle vs Reagan denton and jody has a rep for clowning around but in my view and a lot of ppl who want jody done enough to win. I bet a lot of ppl can give examples when this has happened.

Yeah I know what you mean. From what i've read, if it'a a journeyman Vs a ticket seller it's a given that a close round goes to the ticket seller. It just seems to be the unwritten rule that the game is run that way. I wonder if the likes of Johnny Greaves have that sort of serial loser mentality. They're not going to get any favours, expect to lose, do their best, pick up their wages and on to the next job the following week?

Sometimes you see a journeyman has a starlet's number, but they often take their foot off the gas. Promoter's dont give work to journeyman who come to bomb-out their investment.

That said, Daniel Peret gets plenty of work over here. He often comes to win and promoter's see him as a premier journeyman, who will bring an actual test. So there is a need and marketplace for winning-journeymen. Usually the next step up for a novice pro.

A few of you boys hit the nail on the head, on some of the small hall show. Id swear Dick turpin judged em! You do really have to win big to get a result. Then again I fully understand the need for the young ticket sellers to keep winning. I've never had a draw tho which even I am surprised at. Believe me tho, its very hard to not coast thru & get a piss easy paypackit, that said in the ones where you have a chance I try to take it

And that's my point I guess when u do try and don't get the result is it because u wasn't the best boxer on the night or because of your record. I have been seeing a lot dodgy verdicts on the small shows I go to and as a boxing fan is really frustratingnn it seems you have to win by ko to win Carl wild vs Elvis dube springs to mind.
