Didn't Nembhard get stiffed by Gary Locket after coming so close to stopping Magee?

It was this result that made me this Locket could really go places...

It goes to show just how close the line can be between becoming a journeyman and a prospect. One close loss, a few seconds of a bout. So much of the fight game is about confidence, and sometimes fighters never really recover from an early loss, or more to the point, their promoters lose confidence in them, and they never get time to prepare for fights properly.

Slightly off the topic but in this regard Paul Wesley springs to mind.
The guy could punch (KO1 Neville Brown) and box (see his bouts with McCraken and Omar Sheika) but was never more then a journeyman.

I have trained with him on a few occasions and he is a knowledgable, nice bloke. Shame he couldn't have done more with his talent...

Yes, I watched Wesley on several occasions and he was always a threat. I watched him give John Ashton a really hard fight for the Midlands Area title in 1990 - and Ashton went on to much bigger things.

Do you rememeber his Midland title tussel with Antonio Fernandez? Wesley could of won that one with a bit more output...

His record stinks and people who didnt see him fight may regard him as useless but if an opponent took this attitude Wesley had all the tools to take em out.

Magee holds a dubious title belt, as does Calzaghe.

Magee is happy to go to Germany.

Take note, Calzaghe and Warren.

Magee and Hearn are setting the standard now.

Wesley also beat Silky Jones!!!! who went on to be a world champion beating Verno Phillips

Chris did lose to Lockett quite dramatically... but that fights was at 11st 5.... lockett killed himself to get down to 11 stone and never quite carried the same power again! anyone doubting Locketts power ned only watch this fight and the Hussein Osman fight... he could really punch... but was never a light middle!!!

"Contrary to reports on some websites this morning it now looks as though the Brian Magee-Markus Beyer clash may not be taking place.

British Eastside has been in contact with two people at Matchroom Sports who have confirmed that, after the withdrawl of Danny Green form the Beyer fight, that Team beyer have been looking around for a substitute fighter and that Matchroom have been contacted over the availability of Brian Magee.

A problem with the deal may be the purse, as the Magee camp would be looking for an inviting fee to step in at such short notice. Indeed, if Magee hasn't been in the gym, then starting tomorrow he would only have just over five weeks to prepare for the fight, which was said to be on the 28th of Febuary. So at the moment things do not look good.

HOWEVER, Spud is on the case and he has been in contact with a source close to Brian Magee and he will be back with definate news of the fight (whether it is on or off) within an hour and a half!"
