I see someone put a letter into boxing news about a journeyman prizefighter again. I've been on about this for over a year. Bringing in the likes of takaloo , let's be honest, a shot fighter , don't really interest anyone I know. It really is time for Eddie hearn to make this happen & give us boys a shout. We,ll all go for it & I'm sure get everyone talking about it. Good or bad. Come on matchroom, give me a go!

Man I would love to pick the line up for the next international heavyweight one.

I would have prizefighter the classics,,(well sort of:-)

I would have them all average to small size HW's,
Eddie Hearn when you read this, take it to the US and make a mint off of it, big money in old rope you know it makes sense.

My line up would be the following,

Holyfield (and before you all fuckin start he could probably still beat everyone in the last one bar Perez)
Bert Cooper (3 round rematch with Holy proving that two oldies can make for a fun fight)
Jeremy Williams (very good boxer/puncher for 3 rounds and would probably come out of retirement for a few bob.)
Oliver McCall, (would LOVE to see if anyone could dent that chin!)
David Tua (slow as fuk now but still dangerous)
Golota (what can I say get the mad yin back, he's shot to fuk but could shock anyone in the oldies section on any given night)
Herbie Hide (all the punters on HBO warmed to mental Herb nuff said)
Shannon Briggs, Great ONE round fighter:-)

Holy V Bert Cooper 2,
The show gets of to a sluggish start but Holy drops Cooper with a body shot and the end of the third winner: Holy in a slow slow fight

McCall V Tua,
The chin vs The Punch, Winner: (in a shocker) McCall who shocks everyone and ko's Tua in 2

Willaims V Hide,
No chinned zippy oldies going at it. Winner Hide (just) Williams drops Hide but Herbie manages to catch Williams coming in and levels him with one punch.

Golota Vs Briggs,
Slow Bombs away! Winner Briggs, Shannon fires the first fast(ish) cannon and puts Golata away with one punch in 24 seconds and walks back to his corner with his hands out like Jesus on the cross BUT Golata shocks everyone by getting up and fighting back bravely but sadly goes out on his shield in the 2nd but wins everyone over with his ballsy stance.

So who wins? overall??

I will have to think about that.

Eddie Hearn tell your dad, here's your gateway into the US it will only get bigger! :TU:

Get Barry Tomkins to commentate (just like his old HBO days, his "and we have a new era in boxing" is a classic as much as "down goes Fraser!" by Cossel) and the Buffmeister to do the honors to give the show some HBO cred (HBO wont touch it but it will still outsell anything they do all year besides Mayweather) good PR campaign and bobs your uncle and Barry's your da!!
Ooh Rub a dub dub 2 mil in the tub!

I would go with our early noughties heroes at middleweight

Jawaid Khaliq - Former IBO welteweight champion
Jamie Moore - Entertainer and european champ
Steve Roberts - WBU champ
Harry Dhami - Ex british champ
Wayne Alexander - KO specialist, WBU champ
James Hare - WBF Champ
Gary Lockett - WBU champ and power machine
John Duddy - Human Punchbag.

I think this would have the potential to be most entertaining prizefighter ever.

You really want it because you'd be the home fighter. certainly save you on travel expenses.
But seriously arn't the tickets sold for prizefighter actually sold by the boxers themselves, I think you need one or two big ticket sellers atleast. In principle it's a good idea.

90% of those heavyweights wouldn't even get licensed. They'd have to hold it at GitMo or something.

Briggs,Hide and Tua certainly would. It wouldn't be my first choice for a prizefighter though.

Tua might struggle, not being able to beat Barrett in 2 fights isn't great form.

Considering how slow he started in both fights he really would struggle but he'd still get licensed.

They might be cautious about Briggs too, he was a punching bag for 12 rounds last time out, he barely threw a punch or looked inclined to.

Eh? in America? you must be kidding mate.

Tua, Holy, McCall, Cooper already hold US licences the rest just need to get a backhander to get one.

I know for a big night like that we,ll all sell a good ticket. When this was on the forum last time , most were highly interested. The two & a half thousand that signed up to the Facebook page would try to get there. With a back story on us boys, I know we,d generate big interest.

I'd certainly applaud a 'Journeyman Prizefighter' tournament. After all, and it's said often enough, without these guys boxing would be a bit stuck.
Maybe it should happen as a way of a thank you? I think it would sell and maybe a bit of TV exposure for these boys is a just reward for all the travelling they do and taking fights at short notice.
I support it.

Thanks a lot you boys for the support. Let's be honest , nearly all recent versions have had 1 or 2 liable winners & the numbers made up of lads no better than most good journeyman. Or at least very inexperienced. Let's have a level field made up of lads who's dream would be made by getting prep time, exposure, & the chance to make a few bob & to prove we can actually fight

i completely disagree and to agree would make me hypocritical. I have always challenged fightewrs who do not go in the ring trying to win, i had no problem with the likes of 'slick' miller who would try to land his bomb before his fragile chin was exposed, he never went into the ring to just 'survive'.

i do however have a problem with the likes of peter buckley, who were there to collect the pay check regardless and even if the opponent did show some openings his income was more important than landing a punch unfortunately.

so i would not like to see a journeyman prizefighter, unless it was rewarding journeymen who actually entered the ring to win on a regular basis, of which there are few!!

I respect your view on this , fair play. But, Yeh. At times you do go up & get through . But you can't be as fit and ready ad the flying machines 52 weekday a year,we genuinely only get a day or two notice to trek half way up the country & box a top boy. Plus after a while of trying your utmost in the ring & getting shafted begins to make you box a bit smarter. You can't fight often as us a expect to go all out everytime. I always try to have a go but when outgunned you play the tricks & survive

As has been said before, with the winning prize money and the pride at who is the best journeyman of course they will go at it to win. These journeymen are good fighters and better than what their record shows. This will give us a chance to see their real capabilities

I won't comment too much in this for fear of driving you all mad, but if I got an entry into this, id really give my absolute all to be journeyman no1. Same so for all. Were all on a par skilwise , no one would want this more than us. We,d all go to win, open up & make one of the best prizefighter,s ever

I like Johnny Greaves he is always honest about himself and I always shake his hand and have a chat with him at different venues around the country.
I would like to see him get the chance to win 32k, perhaps then he could cut down on his decorating work?
Johnny, let me know where your pie n mash shop is and next time Im near I'll certainly pop in and see if you can live up to your boast of the best pie n mash in town?
Keep yourself fighting fit and well. PMc.

Unfortunately the shop weren't doing great, there's not to many cockney,s left in easy ham & other than footy days , demand weren't as great as it should be. That don't mean my pies were shite by the way, ha. But thanks mate.
