OK, I get how it works, if you unify then you become the Super champion.

The question is this. Where does the Super Champion stand in terms of mandatory challengers?

I read somewhere that the Super Champion has 18 months to make a mandatory, but is it the samew #1 contender that the standard Champion has to fight, or does the Super Champion have to fight the Standard champion? If so, what happens if the Standard Champion refuses to fight the Super CHampion?

And what happens if the super champion beats the standard champion? does he become the super duper champion and open the standard title once again?

My understanding actually is that they don't have any mandatories to fulfil, off the top of my head I can't think of the WBA stripping a Super champ for not fulfilling a mandatory or of them saying to a Super champ 'this guy or nothing!'

It's an unusual one because I thought they only made someone a Super-champ if they unified but they made Kessler Super-champ, but in saying that with the Super 6 it possibly made a little bit of sense because the eventual winner will be a unified champ.

Well look at the 168 division.

We have Andre Ward the Super champion.

Dmitri Sartison is the regular champion.

Then Brian Magee is the interim champion.

Greedy sanctioning bodies trying their best to kill boxing thats how I see it. Year ago I knew every champion now I am past caring!!!

Without doubt this is the most ridiculous situation in boxing. Three 'champions' in the same weight...all from the same governing body?
If the other three 'big' governing bodies did the same thing we'd have 12 champions in Super Middleweight.

Here's 1 for ya, if the WBA champ beats the WBC champ he becomes "super" champ, and we get a new "regular". So the new "regular then goes on and beats the IBF champ, do we then have 2 "super" champs????????

Now that's a scenario that puts it into a confusing perspective. But what if they unify with a WBU,IBO or GLobal title. Are they super then? it doesnt state what needs unifying

The super champion rules have gone to pot and the titles are now just awarded arbitrarily, but the 18-month mandatory rule that you referred to was actually that of the WBO, not WBA. The WBO "upgraded" its champions that made 10 defences, such as Calzaghe. However this was simply an award or recognition, with the champion being given a more expensive belt and more leeway as champion, such as the mandatory term, and a WBO Super champion didn't lead to a breakaway Ordinary champion,

Whilst admitting I have not really thought it through I sometimes wonder whether a BBBofC World Championship would have any credibility.
