Recovery Drinks

Anyone recommend a decent recovery product, decent mix of carbs, protein and amino acids? I always used to use CNP Pro-Recover, but I find it sits a bit heavy in my stomach and makes me feel sick for a while now.... that said, in terms of recovery, it's the best i've tried. i'm currently using Kinetica Recovery - the Orange and mango one - being that it's not creamy, I don't get any issues with my guts afterwards - but it doesn't mix great, and it is just sugary carbs and 20g protein - none of the amino acids/glutamine and other magic in Pro-Recover that gets rid of the aches and pains by the next morning.

Anyone recommend other, preferably Citrussy/non-creamy, recovery drinks?

I swear by it. It's no coincidence that most UFC fighters use it now. It will stop you aching after a heavy session on the mat. I don't use any others. But you must, must, must take it every day.

PS Ryan Hall Liverpool October 1st

I know.... John phoned me about it, having already got me a ticket. I'm in Florida though, beyond gutted :x Going to go train at Marcio Simas though, and maybe even take a drive down to Fightsports in Miami, where Hannah's been for the last couple of months.

Coconut water. I use Hydralyte (a re hydration drink for gastro/food poisoning/diarrhea sufferers) http://www.hydralyte.com/dehydration to sip on during training and water or tea (no milk or sugar) for the rest of the day.

To clarify, I think dberry means Organic Green Coconut Water.

I buy this by the litre and mix it with my PHD 2:1 instead of using water. It's amazing. Chuck in some Acai if you want to throw it down like a true legend.

It's also pretty good with vodka.

ReGo is what many of the endurance athletes use.

For a cheaper solution, you can try Recovery XS by MyProtein. It contains the 2:1 ratio as well as glutamine and creatine.

If you are recovering from exercise that has caused a lot of sweating and water weight loss then it is also important to replace electrolytes that have been losted through perspiration. Lucozade, Powerade or Gatorade will be necessary to replace these electrolytes. Unless you want to mix 3:1 Water:Orange Juice and then chuck in some sugar and salt.

Thanks, Poncey, that's what I meant. It's also good with some Bacardi and a little bit of Malibu.
