Putting stablemates together is probably the way forward for some promoters.

Means that you have the winner whatever happens. Why risk your man against someone else's if you don't have to?

Shocked by this though. Warren said Groves should be ashamed of himself if he didn't take a rematch with De Gale, interesting to see when that will happen now. It does seem like a win-win move for all concerned.

This came out of blue. All the talk was for him to join Matchroom. Really surprised by this.

I guess it makes sense for FW to pull out some stops to get Groves. Both to slow down the Matchroom momentum a bit and make any future Groves/Degale a win/win.

I agree it was probably the best offer.

What I do find a little confusing is the adamant nature in which Haye avoided Warren for years. Haye went out of his way to not get signed into a long term agreement and have his career 'controlled' by Warren. I have actually got a ton of quotes from Haye 4 or 5 years ago explaining why he wouldn't join Warren - although most of it was cut from the published piece (surprise, surprise).

I don't really know what it means. Whether Haye/Booth were more confident in Haye than Groves? Perhaps more confident in his ability to sell a fight? Whether the division is stronger and they need the contacts/bargaining power Warren brings? Whether it's a case of them learning their lesson from Hayes career and not wanting to invest as much in Groves?

As I say, I don't know, buts it's a fascinating move all round!

It is encouraging to see the best fighters domestically pitted together, even if they are promoted by the same guy (Jennings vs Brook is another one).

However, I think the closness of Groves vs Degale has kind of disguised the fact that as a fact goes it was a stinker. The PPV turned into a bit of a disaster with the Cleverley situation and cannot see the same interest in a rematch yet.

I know it was discussed in the previous thread, but does this mean the end of Hayemaker? Basically Adam is admitting that Hayemaker cannot get him the deals that Warren is offering.

What great news, I look forward to seeing George contest a minor belt and then defend it against a bunch on nobodies.

From what i've read Hayemaker don't seem to be overly popular with other promoters in this country and Europe. It seems their arrogant, heavy handed approach has burned a few bridges. Groves is probably aware of this too and the deal with Frank W opens the most doors. Perosnally I think it's a good move for him. Look at Degale, he lost the fight but has bounced back with a big fight immediatly while George has little going on.

Big surprise. But the way FW moved DeGale straight into a Euro shot, on the back of his first loss, must have impressed Groves and Booth. And also the way he rebuilt Khan...it's an impressive track record.

Eddie says, over at boxing news, that the fact golden boy had world wide rights on Groves, put a spanner in the works.

IMO Groves has made a big mistake here he will play second fiddle to DeGale. He would have been better joining Matchroom and learning from Froch. Warren will likely build him up for a rematch with DeGale, and then drop him like a stone.

Yep, Warren's baby is DeGale. He won't give two shits about Gropves but will use him to extract cash, then when Groves doesn't perform, drop him, or even sacrifice him at will.

If its just about money then yes, however boxing terms this move could very well turn out to be the wrong one
