i think if I were forced to bet, that would be my call too, mate. though, of course, I'll be cheering for Tony. it'll be very interesting to see how well each of them takes the other's best punches.MachoMan09 wrote:Regardless my opinion would be the same, Cleverley mid-late stoppage after a brave effort by Bellew.
Personally i don't think Bellew has done anything to deserve a World title shot let alone be in a position to win one and his new trainers seem to have changed his fan friendly exciting knock out or be knocked out style to a much more fundamentally sound but boring one and he definately isn't on Cleverleys level technically so i would sayNigel1001 wrote:What would your honest opinion be of the upcoming fight against Cleverley?
I think Cleverly wins quite easily.
You?

Cleverley wins by 4th round TKO.
oh, he can punch. i don't think he gets off with his shots as easily at 175 as he might a weight above against slower fighters, but the one time i saw him in the flesh you could definitely tell his shots were landing with a resounding walloping noiseNigel1001 wrote:Counter-puncher wrote:i think if I were forced to bet, that would be my call too, mate. though, of course, I'll be cheering for Tony. it'll be very interesting to see how well each of them takes the other's best punches.MachoMan09 wrote:Regardless my opinion would be the same, Cleverley mid-late stoppage after a brave effort by Bellew.
Is bellew that big a puncher? He really looks frail at Lt Heavy.
Are you serious?kingfinn wrote:exittored wrote:Personally i don't think Bellew has done anything to deserve a World title shot let alone be in a position to win one and his new trainers seem to have changed his fan friendly exciting knock out or be knocked out style to a much more fundamentally sound but boring one and he definately isn't on Cleverleys level technically so i would sayNigel1001 wrote:What would your honest opinion be of the upcoming fight against Cleverley?

I disagree - I should say being British and Commonwealth champion is enough to deserve a title shot against a domestic rival that didnt win the title from a champion.
Froch is talking about letting St George have a crack at him after the ward fight.
We should be applauding the fact that the domestic 1 and 2 ranked fighters are getting in the ring together. People complained when Hatton wouldnt fight witter or calzaghe didnt give Froch a shot.
And your rating of Tony's ability to KO Clev is based on what exactly?yid14 wrote:Bellew by K.O. Cleverly is well overated.

That isn`t to say he doesn`t have a reasonable chance of the upset .. he is heavy handed and game enough.
But I think Nathan Cleverly will be too skilled for Bellew. Cleverly should be the clear favourite to win wide on points.
Tonys fights with Ovill McKenzie kinda showed two versions of Bellew ... both were very poor and neither version would appear in Cleverlys league.
The second was a boring fight but it didn't show Bellew to be poor, he won the fight at a canter and never had to up the pace to win it, if that's anyone's fault it's McKenzie's.
I think Cleverly gets cocky sometimes and leaves himself open, I think Bellew will catch him and stop him.Deserter wrote:And your rating of Tony's ability to KO Clev is based on what exactly?yid14 wrote:Bellew by K.O. Cleverly is well overated.
Don't worry, I completely understand where you're coming from, it's just that I think while a case can be made for Cleverly being over-rated, I think that's potentially even more the case with Bomber. I think he's a class act on the forum, but if you look at his track record to date there's nothing there to suggest he's mixed at the level Cleverly has and just as pertinently there's nothing to really support the view he's the banger he was in the ams.yid14 wrote:I think Cleverly gets cocky sometimes and leaves himself open, I think Bellew will catch him and stop him.Deserter wrote:And your rating of Tony's ability to KO Clev is based on what exactly?yid14 wrote:Bellew by K.O. Look mate we've all got different opinions, I hope this is why you come on here to read other peoples. I didn't say I thought Bellew was better than Cleverly because that wasn't the question. Put it this way by the looks of the poll I'll either gain some points on the boxrec october prediction league or fall behind everybody on this fight.
he was only 5ft 6ins tall lolNigel1001 wrote:exittored wrote: Bellew won his Commonwealth title from this man

The worst commonwealth title challenger in history and thats saying something!
Wow, I forgot about that.
I like Bellew's boxing style and i like the way he does go for it in fights, the thing for me that lets him down is the way he is in press conference's/in front of the camera,s and the way he lets himself down in slagging matches, he should just do his talking in the ring because he does have the talentNigel1001 wrote:Looks like Bellew just has a punchrs chance. I am sure Clev will take less risks but still be too much for Bellew.
Murats opposition has been poor he hasnt beaten anyone world class as far as im aware. Its not clevs fault he didnt get to fight a genuine title holder but the fact remains he hasnt yet proved himself a geniune world champ and Bellew is british tile holder, common wealth champion, number 2 in the Uk and in the top 15 in the world thats more deserving than alot of fighters that have had a crack at a title in recent times. What domestic match up would you rather see in the LHW division.exittored wrote:Are you serious?kingfinn wrote:exittored wrote: Personally i don't think Bellew has done anything to deserve a World title shot let alone be in a position to win one and his new trainers seem to have changed his fan friendly exciting knock out or be knocked out style to a much more fundamentally sound but boring one and he definately isn't on Cleverleys level technically so i would say

As for being the number 2 Light Heavyweight in Britain, thats like saying your the number 2 Ski Jumper in Britain behind Eddie 'The Eagle' Edwards. It's one of the worst divisions domestically we have and beating a Journeyman(even one having his indian summer) like Ovil McKenzie twice dosn't give you the right to challenge for a world Title.
At least Cleverley beat a dangerous unbeaten fighter in Karo Murat to become the interim champion and was going to fight the champion too before he was rightly stripped.
Well first your wrong about Karo Murats opposition as he has beaten some decent Light Heavyweights like ex world champions Cristian Sanavia and Gabriel Campillo.kingfinn wrote:Murats opposition has been poor he hasnt beaten anyone world class as far as im aware. i believe he was heavyweight as an amateur (not the same as the pros remember), but it doesent matter, his a natural cruiser if you ask me but then so is cleverly, i dont think he would be campaigning at light heavy if he dident feel strong !Nigel1001 wrote:jessi wrote:i think bellew will win ! if his on the forum or not it makes no real diffrence, he cant see me he doesnt know me so i can write what ever i like without being bothered what he thinks, my recent success for predicting underdogs has been ok, i had groves over degale, and mitchell over murray, people seem to think cleverly cant be out boxed or out worked, i think your all forgetting what an outstanding amateur bellew was and his will to win is incredible ! good luck to both but i think bellew wins in a close close fight by late stoppage or points !
Was BEllEW weighing 175lbs when he was an amatuer? I heard he was a heayweight?
He needs to move up, too frail at lt heavy.
