TYSON'S THE MAN TO END REIGN OF THE KLITSCHKO’S

TYSON Fury is back in the ring on Saturday night looking to start a journey towards a showdown with either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko in 2012.

British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Fury takes on North American champion Nicolai Firtha in an international 12 rounder at the famous King's Hall in Belfast live on Channel 5 with the winner expected to take a step up the world ladder.

Fury watched the WBC World heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko easily retain his title against Poland's Tomasz Adamek at the weekend and promoter Mick Hennessy says the Irishman is the one man who can end the World domination of the Klitschkos.

Hennessy commented: “Everyone in boxing must know now that the only man who can beat the Klitschkos is Tyson Fury. Tyson is a modern day heavyweight, he's 6ft 9' but he also has the speed, the heart, the hunger, the chin and the power to beat either one of them.

“I think 2012 is going to be the year that the World heavyweight division is turned upside down by Tyson Fury. He didn't get to box for Ireland at the Olympics in 2008 because of boxing politics but there would be no better way for him to give something back to the Irish fans who are now right behind him than to win the World heavyweight title at Croke Park in the year of the London Olympics.

“We have total respect for the Klitschkos because they have proven themselves to be true warriors and the best in the division since Lennox Lewis retired but now they must realise that there's a new kid on the block and he's coming to rule the heavyweight division and his name is Tyson Fury.

“There's exciting times ahead for Tyson and his fans, starting on Saturday night at the King's Hall when there's going to be a real rumble between Tyson and Nicolai Firtha. I know with the backing of Channel 5 that Tyson is getting the kind of exposure he needs to become the World superstar he is destined to be.”

If he took the fight you can't blame him, but it wouldn't go past 5 rounds with either Klitschko..........

I would say earlier but the Klitschko's are always cautious against big guys, hence my conservative 5th round estimate lol

They will be getting a lot of money when Fury gets a shot at a Klitschko. If you make enough noise and pretty much look the part, there's a heavyweight title shot on offer. Fury's domestic exposure - in the sense a growing percentage of the population is aware of who he is, rather than the fact he was arguably beaten by John McDermott in their first match - will not do him any harm at all and I have no doubt whatsoever that the Klitschkos are considering Fury as the next, or next but one, in their pension pot accumulator.

As much as I like them, the Brothers are as cash motivated as they come. If they weren't they'd both have retired by now as there is nobody worth fighting (in the sporting sense of 'worth').

The question is will Tyson Fury be a better/equal challenger to the either Klitschko a year from now if he keeps progressing both technically and stamina/fitness wise then the following:

Tomasz Adamek, Odlanier Solis, Shannon Briggs, Albert Sosnowski, Kevin Johnson, Chris Arreola, Juan Carlos Gomez, Samuel Peter, Danny Williams, David Haye, Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, Hasim Rahman, Tony Thompson, Sultan Ibragimov, Lamon Brewster, Ray Austin and Calvin Brock.

The answer is:

YES.

Tyson Fury is at least two years away from seriously challenging the Klits. By which time I expect Vitali to have retired.

Let's be real here, Tyson Fury MIGHT be a future WHC but he still has a hell of a lot to learn and he still has to convince people that he's not just an overrated and over hyped circus act.

When he has a few decent names on his record a la Robert Helenius, maybe we can start believeing. For the time being IMO he's just all hype and no substance.

I don't doubt it Machoman, and to be fair there are worse contenders to have faced them.

But let's not forget this is the man who lost to McDermott and got the decision, he's blown out of his arse for most fights and looked pretty shabby.

A lot, lot better vs Chisora but was shaken a couple of times. The Klits would do him some real damage, as would David Haye.

Fury is nowhere near that league but could get a shot.

the giant Mariuz Wach is better in my opinion.

I have said it before and I have said it again when you look at Tyson Fury I personally think all the raw ingredients of a great modern super- heavyweight is there. He has the height, reach, handspeed, very good dig to the body and puts together good combinations heart and a big pair of cajones too. But there all still questions about his chin at a high level and he is nowhere near ready to fight either one of the Brothers K at the moment as they would eat him alive, but it would be good fun to watch though. He needs to concentrate on clearing up on the domestic scene beating guys like David Price, Sam Sexton et al before then stepping up to European level before going for World honours and I do not expect him to be pushing for world honours around 2013-2014 so I expect him to be kept busy to win a Lonsdale belt for keeps getting a European shot make a couple of defences before getting an eliminator shot from one of the sanctioning bodies.

all of the bolded are both decent technical fighters and have decent stamina/fitness.

Fury is a long way off being a worthy challenger, and would do well to keep climbing the ladder one rung at a time. Fight a Price/Sexton even a chisora rematch then step up to euro level, somebody like a Sosnowski or a Chagaev. Then maybe look at a fringe contender like an Arreola, Helenius or even Povetkin. Only if he can gain that sort of big fight experience will he ever be Technically prepared for either of the brothers. It's been well proven by now that fighting average > poor opposition in preperation for a match against either brother will only serve to get your face pummeled for 10+ rounds.

Anyone fancy Fury to beat Price.

I personally think David beats him all day every day and could be a future WC.

If he just had a little more devil and spark about him he'd most definitely make it in the next 2/3 years. Certainly has the tools, more so than Fury IMO.

I agree, if Fury becomes a much better and fitter boxer in the next year then he could challenge the Klitschkos...
