Yep, which means that a rematch won't do much for Sai in terms of him winning his belt back.
I was reading Graham Houston's column and he actually thought this was fair decision

If Sai gets a rematch they should have at least one African or non-British judge.
Hopefully if a rematch happens Cox won't act like a scumbag again.

I really hope a rematch comes out of this for Sai at the very least. Really it should be ruled as a no-contest but that isn't likely to happen. After reading the article, I was just thinking how easy it would be for the "Ghana Boxing Authority" to stop their licensed boxers travelling to the UK for future Commonwealth fights as a protest. What would FW do for opponents then?

There was no question that Cox came out looking the worse for wear in his bout with Sai. Cox was cut over both eyes and had a bloody nose. Facial damage doesn’t always mean that a boxer has been outscored, though. Cox made a huge effort — a very gutsy, hard-working performance. The tall, rangy Sai was technically the superior boxer and landed most of the eye-catching punches, jabbing nicely and knocking back Cox’s head with right hands. Cox kept his fists pumping, though and if he couldn’t outbox Sai he was at least outhustling the capable boxer from Ghana.
Sky Sports analyst Richie Woodhall had it a one-point win for Sai, and when Cox was deducted his second point for going low with the left hand — in the last round — I thought that the southpaw from the West of England had probably blown any chance he had of getting the verdict.
Yet while Cox was perhaps a tad fortunate to have got the verdict, it was hardly a so-called robbery — and it wasn’t so long ago when a boxer from Ghana, Charles Adamu, got a highly questionable, split decision win in the U.K. over Carl Dilks in a Commonwealth title fight the British boxer seemed to have won clearly — Ghana’s Joseph Laryea soundly outboxed Paul Appleby in another Commonwealth title bout in the U.K. and Laryea deservedly got the decision.

I don't see how a decision can be unfair, yet not a robbery. In my opinion, if there is no fair way a particular result can be arrived at, a robbery occurs if that result is rendered. I willl concede that Houston didn't expressly state that it was a fair result, but he seems to be implicitly suggesting that there was legitimate rationale behind the verdict, and I strongly disagree with that observation.
Incidentally, while I have massive respect for Houston's prescience, I find myself questioning a number of his recent post fight sentiments. He thought that Lara-Williams was a very close fight, (i.e. he scored 5 rounds for a fighter who did no effective work all night), and he also wrote that McCloskey was battering Prescott around the ring for 2:25 of the 12th round.

Cox might not have mentioned Sai's alleged use of the elbow or head, but he did claim that Sai was lying about being hit low. The low blows were pretty easy to spot - much easier than the headbutts and elbows. Sorry mate, you've posted a few times about the fight and not a single time addressed the fact that there's not a boxing fan in sight who believes that your fighter deserves to be Commonwealth Champion. It's all very well making excuses or talking about what the other fighter did, but your fighter should have been DQ'd - two wrongs dont make a right, and he certainly didn't do enough to take a Champions belt away from him. The commentary is irrelevant, we all saw it and it's disillusioning for all of us because it gives the sport we love a bad name. If you and your fighter had any honour and wanted the respect of the boxing public, you'd be insisting that your first defence was a rematch.Talkischeap wrote:Just for record Jamie injured his left hand in round four. Cox should ensure he does have the re-match in order to re-deem himself. Can't imagine he would want to win under such controversy. Screw Fwank, as a boxer you want to be popular with fans, making a conscious effort to be a role model and aspiring to be a house hold name. Cox should consider this before taking any kind of orders or direction from Fwank (re: re-match). Is Cox managed and promoted by allegedly does anyone know?

If Cox can't win in a rematch against Sai, then he isn't going very far anyway.
What is going to be achieved by avoiding the rematch? An unsuccessful challenge for the British title?

I would like to know who told Sai twice that his shorts were too high, I was very close to the ring that night and I never heard Mark Green say anything about the shorts and to say that they were 4inches too high is total nonsense. The general opinion of the punters present on the night was that Cox was extremely lucky to get the nod.
