Some people make a lot of money from this type of thing, Jane...they just buy them up and then charge whoever wants it a big wedge.

I made a few quid. Had a domain for some development I'd planned and out of the blue Panini got in touch and we made a deal. Just hoping someone wants one of my other domains now :OhYes:

I heard a story years ago - probably about 1998-99 - that someone had bought the .com's of the ten biggest retailers in the world when the 'net first came out and sold most of them for 100k. Dunno if it's 100% true.

There have been sales of over a million plus. The rule of thumb is each segment of an address decreases the value. So you can retire with car.com, pay off your mortgage with nice-car.com, buy a car with very-nice-car.com, and then the figures are reduced to less for each added segment.
