Who do you guys think was the greater fighter head-to-head, by achievement in the ring, or how ever you want to play it.
I think it's a very hard pick.

head to head I think Pedrosa has a good chance, but I think Nelson's record stacks up better. head to head, stylistically Pedrosa gives almost anyone at 126 a tough night to say the least, and I'd include Salvador Sanchez in that.

I'd agree on the records but then I'm not so familiar with some of the names from Pedroza's earlier defences.

I just didn't know enough about the sport back then. You had to read all the magazines and I didn't really get totally hooked in the geek sense until about 83

The great Eusebio Pedroza would have beat the great Azumah Nelson by UD in an entertaining fight. But in accomplishments, I had to go with Nelson. Pedroza never had the chance to fight the "elite" fighters of the time. What a fighter that Pedroza was. He was tall, slick, quick, had great stamina, reflexes and an excellent jab. And also could fight extremely well on the inside with an underrated body attack.
Back in the 80s, he was considered a "dirty fighter" by the American media, especially. I think that was blown out of proportion. Pedroza was a technically gifted fighter.
Maybe the American media was upset of Pedroza when he whupped their darling Rocky Lockdrige TWICE.

Besides media darling Rocky Lockridge

, Pedroza also beat Juan LaPorte. Pedroza-Nelson would have been a very interesting matchup. Too bad it never happened.
