I've noticed Lee boxed last night and have always wondered why he seems to continue to fight journey men, has he any title ambitions or does he regard boxing as a hobby?
Surely after 30+ victories he would want to fight for titles

He fought Fitzer twice.

He is busy running a gym as well.

ha ha! now you got me wondering what you posted.

Lee is a good lad, I have first hand experience of what he has done for people without wanting a cent in return. I wont have a bad word said about him.

Nothing major , its just something that pissed me off between me and him personally , but its a public forum so wont say any more for several reasons .

Lee has boxed at the last minute, free of charge, to help a local show which suffered a late withdrawal. He was a very good amateur as well.

Not quite mate he nattered Derek for weeks to be on the show (Murtaghs name was on the posters that were all over Leeds over a month before the show took place) when he was told the budget wouldn't stand it Murtagh was the one who offered to box free of charge and the money from his ticket sales used to pay the opponent Steve Spence.

Murtagh tends to rebuild his confidence with journeyman following a defeat. After his loss to Woolcombe he came back with wins against Musgrave, Dunn, Delehedy, Williams (combined records 28 – 90 – 6) After losing to Healy and Edwards he beat Drake, Royston, Gierke, Walker (combined records 29 – 84 – 6) now after his loss to Fitzgerald he is on four wins against Wood, Clark, Cruise, Spence (combined records 10 – 41 – 6) He should be ready for a step up soon but as his next fight is another six rounder on a Derek Roche show this Thursday it will be another journeyman. After his win over Spence on the last Roche show, I heard him boasting that he’d beaten Spence by a wider margin that Takaloo. When Murtagh fought Clark in York I asked an official if it was appropriate letting a boxer with such a poor record (1 – 34 – 4) fight someone of Murtaghs experience, he replied that if the money was right he’d be happy putting his eight year old grandaughter in with Murtagh as she’d come to little harm.
