Exciting English light-heavyweight champion, Steve Spartacus, looks sure to extend his unbeaten record on the Howard Eastman-Can't spell his name undercard at Dagenham next week. He meets Londoner Ovill McKenzie, who boasts a 3-3 (0) record.
Spartacus is unbeaten in 15 fights and won the English title in his last fight with a third round massacre of Scott Lansdowne.
Poor match this.

I quite like Spartacus. I know he's been one of Clinton Woods main sparring partners for the Johnson fight.

He's got potential.

With his promoter, not too far.

I have to admit I'd underrated Spartacus, he dealt with Scott Lansdowne a lot easier than I expected him to. To be honest I thought at Light-Heavy Scott might have the power to trouble him. Shame really, I've always wanted Lansdowne to do well since I read a bit about him in 'looking for a fight', nerves are a bastard if they swallow you up, maybe they're still his problem.

This fight should be a walk in the park for Spartacus.

Lansdowne looked out of his depth, Spartacus was on a high after his win at Ally Pally

Kevin,
Could nerves have made Lansdowne freeze a bit or was it down to being genuinally outclassed.

Also how strong did Scott look at the weight, he's got huge legs, did he look weight drained at all?

scott has big legs???? have you seen spartacus's legs?

oville isnt that bad at all. sure his record isnt great but he has lost to fairly decent guys and beaten a few decent guys too...

spartacus must have improved a lot of late... i saw some of his early fights including the fight in london with Darren Ashton and I thought he looked very slow and sluggish...

Landsdowne looked very nervous before and during the fight, while Spartacus was anything but.

I think he's definitely improved over the last couple of years.

Spartacus has a very good seek and destroy attitude, if he continues improving he has just the kind of profile to make waves in the division, he certainly seems to have genuine power too.

I like Steve "I'll 'ave it with anyone" Spartacus, for his attitude and style and his flamboyancy

Yes, Spartacus came across well on the Beeb recently. If he has real ability (and he may have been flattered by the Lansdowne win), he can make moves in an ever-open cruiserweight division.

the guy must really have improved then..... he fought the typical warren prospect opponents early on.

Like you suggest does the Landsdown result flatter to decieve??

Most of his KO's have come across people with not the best of chins.

Hastings Rasini
Calvin stonestreet
Rob Stevenson

Not sure how good his stamina is either, hasnt been past 3 rounds at the light heavy limit!!!

The yanks would love him. Though they would probably get confused with an english guy called Spartacus!

Think I've seen him once, a bit muscle bound isn't he? Have I got the right guy?
Looks more like a weight lifter than a boxer..

That would apply to Lansdowne, but not Spartacus.

Yes, I read somewhere that Spartacus was very musclebound, but actually he's not too bad. Lansdowne looked the musclebound one in their fight. He ought to be playing for Leicester Tigers with a physique like that.

Oooo I dunno, he's a pretty muscular fighter, I seem to recall thinking he looked like a guy who lifted a lot of weights when I first saw him.

The way his weight fluctuates so much suggests a fighter who likes pumping iron to me...

You can check out some photos of Spartacus - and also of Lansdowne, at an interesting little fan site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GeorgesBritishBoxingPix

I believe you have to be logged on to Yahoo to access the Yahoo Groups site. If anyone has a look, do they know who the fighter is on the main page? I can't work out who it is.

In the URL for the pic it says the name Luke, not many Lukes come to mind apart from Simpkin who it definitely isn't.

Yes, when I first stumbled on the site (purely by accident I assure you), I felt there was a 'gay' element to it.
But there's some decent boxing shots on there.

Maybe that guy is the Pink Pounder?
