Bad move Frank !!!!! You never turn your back on sky they are the back bone of British boxing ! Sky decision with ppv was one to protect us the fans and we have to thank them for it people like David haye have short changed us. Amir short changing sky with the promise of good bill and they tried to do it cheaply on the mc closky show.
Sky would of been back with ppv but when they new both them and us the fans would get value , I also know that if it went or sky the would still be boxers protected to 20 and o through fighting mugs but they are making promoters match up better again to protect us. Frank as delivered and no one can question that but this will signal the end !!!!!

Amir? Last time I noticed it was Hatton Promotions in association with GBP and Khan Promotions - not only Amir's fault...... and short changing sky? Sky were selling the PPV based on one fight! There was nothing concreate about the undercard..... Sky used that as an excuse cause early indications were it was struggling.... it kind of kicked them in the teeth though cause they now have a dormant PPV channel back interested and, criticially for Sky, terrestial TV. Although I wonder if Fury's fights will be restricted to only when there is a good US bill that can get plugged.
If the undercard was so important, as it was for Cleverly vs Brahmer (lets not forget who started short changing Sky!), then Sky would have demanded they knew what the undercard was weeks in advance so they could give it the air time. Sky wouldn't have been happy if Hatton would have delivered Klitchsko vs Klitchsko as an undercard with less than a weeks notice to sell the fight.

Quality control has been long over-due.
Short term we may see less televised boxing - hopefully, longtime we will see proper match-ups.
Boxing in a basic form is about watching two seemingly evenly matched guys proving who is the better.
Sadly it has evolved into getting a big ticket seller a long unbeaten record with lots of stoppage wins over guys smaller or less skilled.
With the Cleverly/Bellew match-up, maybe we see the benefits sooner.

Couldnt agree more Tony. Going to the live fight you can often see one even match (Sky headliner). With the rest of the bill made up of mismatches.

Any boxing prediction competition - is about what round rather than what fighter wins.
I think this says it all really

I notice there have been a lot of new posters commenting on this subject. Strange that.

You think? I'm not so sure their decision was as altruistic as you think - just a hunch.
as if anything to do with Murdoch is for the good of anybody !

It's a great point about competetive matches. I went to the 02 to see Groves v Degale and on the night there were 12 fights and only the main event could be classed as competetive. (Cleverly's fight was changed last minute and although Kusciemski(sic) had a go he was never gonna be good enough to win).
although the main event was entertaining, it by no means justified the £80 (Second cheapest ticket) I spent. If Warren thinks that is entertainment then allegedly will not last long. I like many of you appreciate that fighters need to learn the ropes, but when a fighter is still fighting nobodies after 15 fights, I think it is time for a change.
There are too many boxers that have a massively padded record that have never fought anybody with a winning record and just spend 6-8 rounds beating up a journeyman and then professing to be a future world champion. Unfortunately many of Warren's fighters are guilty of this. Unless this attitude changes allegedly is doomed.

good point you look at the betting odds on alot of fights and one fighter will be at 33/1 whats the point of even putting the fight on if its that one sided.

I totally agree with your last point here. Padded records dont help any boxer. Would the blame be left with the fighters team for not stepping him up or the promoter. Or both?

Agreed. With the amount of small shows I used to go to when not one away boxer won a single round (& TBH didnt even win a minute of a round) made me realise that I should pick & choose which fights I went to. After all its not a cheap hobby.

I agree with most the comments here there are some awful mismatches in the sport and it needs to be sorted out. As with Frank moving from sky it will be intresting to say the least to see how it goes I personnally think Matchroom will take over as the biggest promoters in the country I already think they have the strongest stable Sky will bring P.P.V back and they will be in pole postion to take advantage, but us fans have to see 50/50 fights like Spencer Fearons hard knock shows they are the way forward for the future of the sports.

Boxing is dying because of greedy promoters like Warren with their over inflated ppv main events that don't live up to the hype, this wouldn't be so bad if these type of events had good fights on the under card to back it up but lets be fair its been a long time since we have seen cards like that where the main event was a world title fight backed up with a great lot of under card fights .
Hate to bring up mma but at least their fans get what fights they want and the cards are stacked !
The sport Boxing being killed of slowly by the people running it .

Disagree I think it's a good move and idea, why should sky have the monopoly on boxing? More channels more boxing more fighters making money !! Thumbs up!!

Really I was at Degale v Groves the undercard was appaling. Shame CLeverly v Braehmer fell through but the rest of it was not upto much.
