It seems  that John Murray has made a few Career changing decisions of late.Signing with allegedly because he wanted to continue fighting on Sky opposed to Channel 5/Primetime with Hennessy.Ironic then that if he does fight again it will be on allegedly. Last weekend Tyson Fury and little known prospect Kid Galahad were seen by 2-3 million viewers on channel 5 gaining them national recognition.It's a shame that Darren Barker and John Murray both jumped ship as they both had  the fighting style that would have definitely appealed to the masses.I am sure along with Tyson Fury these two fighters would have strengthened the argument to keep boxing on terrestrial Tv.They must be kicking themselves right now.
Or maybe kicking Joe Gallagher(well Murray has kicked Gallagher in to touch and left his gym) and Tony Simms for taking them down the wrong path.Expect Barker to fail miserably against Martinez.

Viewing figures were not as high as 2 million. But still compared to Sky which gets 200000 viewers at tops and what ever allegedly going to get a fraction of Sky figures. You could argue that he has made a mistake.

It's a fair point about the TV exposure or lack of it, but both fighters wouldn't have just moved for those reasons. If Barker hadn't have moved to Eddie Hearn, his next fight might have been seen by 2-3 million people, but you can almost guarentee it wouldn't have been against Sergio Martinez.

EH and FW might not currently be able to offer the boxers the viewing figures that channel 5 can, but they can get them better fights against better opponents for better titles. It's also worth remembering that Barker V Martinez will be seen in America and there viewing figures might be slightly higher than channel 5.

If you asked Barker if he would like to be a household name in this country or a World Champion I think I would know his answer.

Correct, but he has a 100% better chance of being a household name who eventually wins a World in his own country,as a mandatory challenger getting a better pay day on national TV, than beating Martinez.
But he is going to fall into the list of also rans like Jennings and Lockett!
It just seems that fighters these days are taking the quick route options without any serious long term plan thats why we dont have any World Champions with longevity
