Does this mean the fight with Gennadijis Makarenko in Malta is off?
Cracking little British title fight A guy who hasn't won for nearly 2 years against a guy who got knocked out in 2 rounds by a novice 7 months ago. Somebody at the BBBofC is earning there money. :witzend:

I don't think this is really up to headling a tv show!

You Blackpool guys stick together. Agreed though surely Turba should get the shot before Williams, just by virtue of beating him. (although neither really deserve to challenge for a british title yet)

Don't think he's elegible for a British title shot but still you'd put askin and dickenson ahead of Williams surely?

definately.

and im not impressed with Williams fans (and i speak as a streatham boy). they came to Prizefighter in large numbers and were very loud and enthusiastic ...and then as soon as Williams lost they all trooped out together in a sulk before the semi's and final. a sad indictment.

Wat a joke Norton as not boxed for 17 months then gets matched against Leon Williams. So will he have this fight then not box for e another 17 months.

to be fair its not really Norton's fault he hasn't boxed - no TV company/promoter has been willing to touch him

Not just blaming him cause bbb of c have put purse bids out for him vs terry dunstan/herbie hide but sky said they wanted him against a young up and coming. Leon williams does not deserve this chance.

Norton is a talented chap, I think he'll be far too good for Williams and as such this fight might serve as a good platform for the final stages of his career.

I rate norton but fact is not fought in 17 months then fights leon williams will be a easy win. If it was against askin , dickinson, conquest or even how kid would not moan. At least they have fought and won against some good oppents and should get a crack at the title.

Definitely agree with you there mate, its hardly championship calibre is it, one defence in 2 years against Williams.

Was just pointing out I think his lack of fights hasn't entirely been down to Norton.

Have heard however that he sometimes goes missing for months and is hard to get in touch with - think I read this from his own promoter!

Reckon he may pack it in after this one, win the Lonsdale outright and call it a day.

I don't think an aggressive and focused fighter against an established champion is a bad fight. The cruiser division is not packed

then whose fault is it, ? norton is the boxer. the reason the tv wont touch him is he's a safety first fighter = BORING

The chuckle brothers are talking about owoh & conquest fighting the winner! Surely askin is better than them!

Its a shame Dunstan and Norton never materialised and Dunstan went for the world class Abolafi after.... Dunstan definately deserved this crack.
