I came across this photo(by accident)
click on the how tall?at the top of the page and then scroll down to
see a really ?rare photo of ?Jack Dempsey posing with a circus giant named John Assen,
who was about 7 ft 7 inches tall at least(in his socks).
PS or is that reallyJack Dempsey in the photo?
I dont remember Dempsey as ever having a receading hairline do you?
Perhaps its just a Jack Dempsey wanna-be?
who are the two other boxers in the photo?

I'm sure Boxing Blade carried some Dempsey-Aasen photos as well.
I have a copy of that edition somewhere in my archive.
Can't say for sure wheter or not the man on the picture is Dempsey, but he and Aasen did definitley meet and I'm sure there were photos taken of the two together.

Norwegian TV ran a documentary on Aasen a coulpe of years ago.
According to the the researchers featured in it, Aasen was measured to be 9'1" in just before he died.
Obviously an inflated number, and one that contradicts the belief that Aasen shrunk towards the end of his life.
If his skeleton has a legit lenght of just over 7', there is no way he was over or even near 9' while alive.

They also give his birth weight at 24 lbs., which is lower than the official world record, so maybe not impossible.
