For those who don't know, the mandatory British title rematch between Graham Earl and Bobby Vanzie is scheduled for the Alex Arthur comeback show at Edinburgh on March 27.
Earl won the British lightweight crown from long-time champion Vanzie last July at Dagenham on a contentious decision.

This could be a great domestis tear-up ! I think Vanzie could do it but hope Earl learnt from his last near slip-up.He can dig,I sparred him for the Murray fight,but Vanzie is slick.Dave Stewart beats them both.

Earl looked out of sorts against honney in his last one; I actually thought he was lucky to get the nod.

He aggravated an old thumb injury in that one, but there's no doubt Earl has disappointed as champion. I felt Steve Conway was going to beat him when they were scheduled to meet on the Gomez-Arthur bill in Edinburgh last year, but Earl pulled out due to that thumb injury.
Conway then gave the formidable Yuri Romanov a hard fight.

Ye, I wasn't at all impressed with his showing when he took the title from Vanzie; he looked gunshy at times when he should have been coming on strong, and he looked too easy to hit. He is there for the taking, and I will be surprised if Vanzie doesn't get his revenge when they meet.

What is Romanov like as a fighter?

I have yet to see him in action.

Steer clear of him in all truthfulness Dean. He's stocky, powerful, very quick-handed, has a rock hard chin and seemingly endless stamina. Vanzie hit him with shots that had taken out a lot of opponents (especially that southpaw right uppercut), but he shrugged them off and kept on coming. He did the same to Steve Murray. Walked him down.
He's been impossible to match in this country of late. Conway opened a nasty cut on the Belarussian early in their fight, which seemed to bother him. But he still beat a man who had been training for the biggest fight of his career (the Earl crack), so was in top shape.

No probs. What's next for you, Dean?

I could be on at any time now..I'm just waiting to see what opens up, but am ready now. I have my fingers crossed for feb28th, but I hope to be on before that. There was talk about fighting on the bbc eastman undercard, but my prospective opponent has avoided the match.

My promoter also has some plans to stage shows in the nr future, and he has talked about shipping someone in from overseas, but as is always in boxing, unless you hold a title, nothing is set in stone.
