I would imagine that 2011 has proved to be a rather chaotic year at Allegedly HQ. The beginning of the year Matthew Macklin parted ways with FW Promo. In April Kell Brook left the FW stable to join Matchroom.

In May we witnessed Degale being out skilled by Groves resulting in the loss of the Commonwealth belt. Performance by Cleverly in May against Kuziemski proved rather concerning. Cleverly still getting hit too many times for my liking. I found myself wondering what the outcome would have been if those blows had been delivered by Braehmer. Frankie Gavin outings also proved to be not of his usual quality, although this is something that the boxer has recognised and since moved to different location and gym.

September there was the Cox incident, which I cant imagine FW would have been overly pleased with, even with his fighter being announced the winner and the new belt holder.

Most recently, one of FW top prospects Stephen Smith, lost by knock out. A result which came as a surprise to the majority.

Taking all this on board, do you think FW will change tact with his stable and start testing them sooner in order to assess their ability? Or do you think he will protect his fighters more?

Also, what do you see the future holding for Degale, Cleverly, Gavin, Cox & Smith?

Allegedly is the master of triumph from adversity. 30 years as the top man in the business have surely taught him everything he needs to know. This is a man who courageously came back from the unfortunate administration of his previous promotional vehicle, Sports Network, with the just as strong and vibrant Allegedly Promotions. As a boxing fan I am truly grateful that he took the necessary steps to ensure that any fighters contracted to the ailing SN were signed to the new operation with no discernable drop in quality of fights promoted.

And it looks like the future is secure with the growth of Queensbury promotions, run by young George and Francis. Already they have promoted the Walsh - Appleby card and are promoting the upcoming UK Cruiser Title between Rob Norton and Leon Williams. They have also secured a TV contract with allegedly, providing a TV showcase for any fighters their shrewd negotiation allows them to pick up.

I do not doubt Fwank's ability as a shrewd business man, as he clearly is. The question I am asking is will Fwank take a more "sink or swim" approach to his stable, or protect them more? And what do we envisage for Degale, Cleverly, Gavin, Cox and Smith for the next 12 months?

Perhaps they need to get more into online streaming - and use affiliates like here and other sites to host a web-player than non-sky customers can buy fights on a 1 by 1 basis.

Basically exploring other routes to market.

That is a good idea, the customer then has the choice of what they pay for and what they don't. In effect, streamlined streaming

By using affiliates, they will actively push the fights to earn commission. Therefore it's a win/win for promoters.

They get the benefit of sales they'd not normally have, plus additional advertising and exposure.

That does have massive potential, especially in terms of exposure for boxers. The majority of the population use the net so with right type of affiliates being used it could really boost a boxers profile while also generating sales for the fight itself. I like it.
