Kell Brook - Saturday Fight Night thoughts

I am really looking forward to this fight and the point Kell will prove to the boxing world that he can fight boxers in the top 20, this I think will give him more experience for when he moves on to better opponents.
There is a media conference on Thursday and then the Weigh In Friday at Sheffield's Winter Gardens. Then Saturday Fight Night on Sky 8:30pm.
You may even get the pleasure of seeing my ugly mug on the tele
What I would like to know is your guys/ladies thoughts on Kell? Was the move to Matchroom the best thing for him? personally i think so Eddie is breath of fresh air for boxing and what we need.
Ta,

Yea was best move for him , Sky love the Hearns and Brook has been advertised more for this fight than ever before with warren,
Which my bros not happy about becuase he keeps seeing his arse getting plastered about the canvas on a nightly basis right now.
Good luck to him though be intresting to see what kind off BIG FIGHTS he can land.

It was the best move he could have made. FW has his favourites and for what ever reason, it didnt look like Kel was one of them.
Great fight for him and one i think he will win quite easliy. Be interesting to see who he gets next as i think thats the big one for me

WBA, I'm assuming, seeing as though he has that Inter strap.

I've got to say that I'm disappointed with the bill this Saturday. Went to Kell's last fight against N'Dou and thought he looked good and enjoyed the show but for £40 where's the value when there's only a couple of average fights to support? Not even a support fight and only 6 rounders which is a poor show. For that type of line-up 20 quid would be more than enough to charge.
Jackiewicz looks like he's improved over the years and his SD win over Zaveck looks good on paper but he's also been beaten by Bami and Jennings who are hardly class acts! Glad I couldn't go this weekend as the show looks pretty poor. Kell to win inside the distance IMO

It's a fight in the right direction.
Kell's a decent fighter - but i think he needs to be against a man who can beat him soon, to see him raise his game and test his metal.
In short, he's ready for a 'test' soon.

Really good step up fight for Kell. He should have too much class but Rafael will cause real problems with his experience, he'll be there to win not survive.

Haha Ian

,
Great that the show sold-out again and he cannot wait for the fight itself, I saw him last night and must say he is looking in tip-top condition.
The undercard is not as good as last outing with Towers fighting on the Sykes Vs Buckland UCard but sure there will be some good local talent fighting.
Kell win's it in under 10 rounds for me.

You did not go to no last fight of Kells. As there is no £40 tickets at Kells shows as yet. they are priced at £30-£50-£80 ringside.

He wins this comfortably although he needs to up the ante soon in regards to competition, if he wants to be considered legit. Hatton should be next IMO a good a durable opponent with a name.

Good luck, Kell. Don't ever get complacent. Jackiewicz will want your blood. It's a good fight for you and a step between domestic and World class.

Credit to Eddie Hearn with how he's moving Kell on, this is gonna be another good learning fight like the N'Dou one, and I think the victory will put him in great stead for fighting Senchenko, who's behind him in the boxrec rankings.
A lot of pundits are tipping stoppage, but Jackiweicz has never been stopped for a reason and has boxed over 200 more pro rounds than Brook. It's only a year since he fought Zaveck and he's definitely got enough in him to trouble Kell.
Good luck to Special K though, really want him to do well.

I've backed Kell to stop Jack in the second half. He's not been stopped before, but Kel's a BAD BAD man!!
Great work by Eddie 'The Gorgeous One' Hearn (so far), Kell needs to look good on Saturday to help raise his profile.
Khan says he wants to fight Petersen, then have a fight at 147 before fighting Floyd. Surely that fight has to be against Kell Brook!!

I agree with your logic but i would be absolutely staggered if Amir v Kell ever got made.

I think Khan would be all over a fight with Brook. Just talking about this on another forum funnily enough.
Brook will win a title, Khan takes it off him before facing Mayweather

I've (bizarrely) got faith that both fighters want it. Kell certainly does as it'd be a MASSIVE chance to propel himself up the Legend ladder and I'm impressed with Khans matchmaking skills of late. The only problem I see is IF Khan thinks it's too BIG a risk with Floyd waiting in the wings

I hope you guys are right about Amir wanting the fight but i just can't see it. Look at the guys Amir actually gets in the ring with - not the ones he talks about. Since Prescott (who they underestimated), he has fought:
Oisin Fagan - comeback fight, no problem there
Barrera - ageing featherweight
Kotelnik - light-puncher, one paced, made for Amir
Salita - no explanation necessary
Malignaggi - light-puncher, best days behind him
Maidana - good puncher, admittedly, but a moderate fighter who IN HIS NEXT FIGHT prob lost to Morales (65yrs old) - and another one who is sloooowww of foot and hand
McCloskey - domestic / euro level fighter
Judah - faded force but admittedly a danger in his day
Now i am not saying Amir is crap - far from it. And obviously for a combination of reasons he's boxed FAR better opponents than Kell. But when you look at that list you realise that Amir hasn't beaten one top opponent at the peak of their game. He is being very carefully matched. Just look at the latest example - he talks about Mayweather, signs to fight Peterson!
For his homecoming fight at 147, the hype will be Kell Brook but the reality will be Matthew Hatton. I expect Amir will always have an excuse not to box Kell just like Hatton's brother always had an excuse not to box Junior.

Maidana didn't lose to Morales. Morales put up a good effort, which is why he was praised, but he didn't win the fight.
