I dont even think he got "robbed". I think there was only a round in it either way.

Indeed, it was a fair decision, coulda got a round or two either way, there were plenty of close ones.
But it is in his right to make as much noise about it as possible, reason is, he'll get bigger fights and better paydays. It wouldn't make sense for him to jump straight back in with Sturm, that'd be a stupid move.

I think the problem with Macklin now is, he has failed to proove in the ring that he has what it takes to be at the top. So has now resorted to making statements in the hope it gets him noticed. By all accounts wasn't he offered a rematch with Sturm but turned it down?

He was mate and whilst I'm not a major fan of his, if the rumours about the extent of the future options is any way near accurate then I don't blame him for walking away. Fans often don't get to see the full picture and probably think Macklin's decided its not for him, when in truth the options are the reason the fight's not happening.

i don't think he was robbed, or close to it. he lost a tight decision. still a fan of his, boxers spouting drivel is nothing new

I only had Macklin up by 1 point. Shame he didnt get the decision though, he fought a great fight

Close enough fight, but wasnt surprised to see Sturm get the decision. For me Macklin threw loads more punches but Sturm's had much more impact and affect on Macklin.

Macklin has always talked himself up, he does it in a calm, matter of fact way as opposed to a bombastic and extroverted manner. Personally, I think the lad is a touch delusional and is always looking to earn quick money over glory (hence his use of some many promoters) - which is his abosulte prerogative

Personally I dont think he punches hard enough to make it to the division's elite. Would definitely like to see him in against Barker.

Macklin worked very hard but without quality !!! Fact yes he did a good job but who wouldn't for a world title . I don't like boxers who cry myself . If macklin said I got beat by better man but I will be back you would admire him but putting other fighters down and crying only annoys the true fans .
My opinion he didn't do enough in a champions back yard , you have to smash your opponent away from home fact . If you was that confident you would of took the small pay rise yu was offered and took the chance with both hands but no he run because he knew as hard as he worked he could not open his defence up.
However good effort but that's where it stops

how many did you have him winning by? Out of interest. Ive onyl watched the fight once on the night.

I only watched it once on the night aswell but remember thinking it was a stinker clearly I'll have to watch it again.

I watched it only on the night i though Macklin could have got the nod but i didnt score it. He didnt disgrace himself sturm a decent champion.

performanceS, most people remember Macklin for Moore and Sturm. Athough im doing matt a bit of a diservice as he has some good wins on there too. teh way in which he dispatched of Asikinen and Elcock were clinical.
