Hamed had freakish power, Brook's no powder puff puncher but he's nowhere near Hamed's league. He'll always be a break them down type fighter at this level.
The other guy is far from a bum, just not got enough in his toolkit to trouble top level guys. He'll probably contest a European title again.

You could tell Adam Smith and McCrory were doing their damnest to put Brook over as a star, i honestly felt like muting the tv at times. Smith was completely OTT its nights like this where he proves simply shouldn't be doing commentary. For a man that is Head of their Boxing output surely there is a conflict of interest there

Brook is a decent fighter who IMO is just below world class I don’t think he wins a title anyway. He needs to fight better opponents and possibly be more active if he can’t find tough fights.

Stoppage was premature but I still think he beats Berto, he was struggling against Zaveck and he seems to have lost a great deal since
the Ortiz defeat, his footwork is poor and his punch resistance is going all the time.
Brook knocks him out for me, if Eddie lets De Bella have a defence out there as well afterwards, he may get the fight, they must know from
Berto's last performance he is an accident waiting to happen, if they don't match him carefully he will lose before Brook gets to him.

I dont think that Kell is quite there yet............
He puts his shots together beautifully and has a lot of talent but i think that Ortiz or Berto right now would be a step too far. I think Ryan Rhodes had a good idea when he said that Malignaggi would be a good opponent and i also think that if Judah moved back up to 147lbs he also would be a good opponent. Kell needs these type of "link" fights that give him a bigger profile, facing ex champions who have been around, slghtly soiled but good enough to prepare him for an Ortiz or Berto. As someone suggested earlier, Kell will be a boxer who breaks someone down over rounds because he doesn't have that huge punching power. Tonight i think he stepped onto the fringes of the world scene, but he should still take his time and not rush the bigger names onto his cv. I also think that Khan would have way too much speed for Kell, whether that is in 2011 or 2012.
Coming on nicely though

kell doesn't rely on his power alone he has the skill to break fighters down and if the ko comes great.. not exciting like naz but exciting enough to follow his career and think the big fights will bring the best out of him...so keep doing what you do cant complain with a performance like that..

How did you arrive at those conclusions? Ortiz and Berto are infinitely better than anyone Brook has fought.
You are definitely overrating Brook.

Think you'll find that he just stopped a guy who had never been stopped before. Although how Jackiewicz was ranked no.7 i'll never know.
Kell Brook for me tonight didn't even break sweat, looked like he has a lot more. I wouldn't through him in for a tittle just yet, maybe a few fights in america against top 10 ranked opponents. As for the talk of fighting khan next year i'd say 2013 is more likely.

I'm unsure what to make of tonight, it's one of those fights where you wonder whether the opponent was just limited or whether Brook just made it look too easy. I definitely don't think brook has the out and out power that people thought he had, he has decent gradual power but he's not gona spark people at euro or world level.
The thing that worries me a little about Brook at world level is I tink he is a bit stiff and upright, he doesn't look really fluid and loose. I'm not quite buying the hype right now although he is at least now getting a bit of exposure which was sadly lacking in his FW days.

i think he's been on the sauce mate. look at his losses, none by stoppage, most of them early in in career away from his homeland, where i am sure a few of them he would have won but got robbed. he lost a MD in italy fer fucks sake..that means battered the other bloke and got robbed!! kell brook would have been a victim of hype if he had lost tonight.
and about the comparisons with the UFC..their last 5 or six cards have been full of dogshit fights where 2 sweaty semi naked blokes have been laying all over each other for 3 boring rounds...either that or you get so called strikers (shit boxers) who bob and weave with no intention of engaging for the whole fight..

Yeah, he definitely needed the help of the ref to 'get past' him...

Very good technical point, Kel can be a little upright and i think with his fantastic reflexes, and while he is able to impose himself on opponents at just below world class all will be fine but the worry is what will he be like when some1 can negate or walk through his shots. All the same good peformance and the lad is on his way to world title opportunities. I think a better fight for him would be some1,stylewise like Kotelnik at 147, any suggestions?

Malignaggi is definitely the fight there for Brook, name on the record (especially to the UK fans cos of the fights with Hatton/Khan), former world champ, faded but still decent enough to prepare for a world shot, tough - Malignaggi will stay in there as long as.
Then maybe ready for Berto or whoever.
