Hard to tell at such an early stage, when so many facets of his game haven't been tested. He is in a division that is generally quite weak in Europe, but strong in world terms. If he goes on to look good at British level, then there's no reason why he can't do well at European. World level is a big ask, as it always has been at the weights he'll be fighting at.

SpecialJC,

Why don't you post this in the British section ? You are liable to get a better responce mate !!

I like the look of the kid, it's early days yet, but i like his attitude and he seems to have all the fundamentals. I have seen his last two fights now and it's great to ctach a kid at the start of his career and see how he develops. I think he looks like he has what it takes at the domestic level, European and world level are some way off yet to judge, but i like the look of him. I wish him all the best and will bewatching his fights whilst ever he is on the undercards of shows :box:

Ps Are you down at the Ingle Gym ? I know you said that you want to join the Amateurs ? What weight level ?

Good luck with it and i hope you do well

Good luck with it.............

It's certainly the right place to be at and your the right age aswell, so hopefully you will do well. I always support the Sheffield boxers and as your thread on the British side stated, Brendan's gym has always produced a lot of quality fighters in the past and it seems to be bearing new fruit with the current generation.

Nah, he didn't. He must have hit the kid 100 times in the face - as I said in my write up, I can't remember a spell of around five minutes in a ring when I've seen a higher punch landing success rate.

Had he been a hard hitter, Ancliff would have been gone long before.

No big deal though, it'll come, no doubt. Lots of potential.

I was impressed by the lad. Still not sure no the name, why doesn't he just use his normal name?

It's great that you are showing such enthusiasm at 14 mate and that's to be applauded.
However there are a lot of people on here who have been around the boxing scene and particularly the Sheffield scene for too many years to remember, and you won't be able to pull the wool so to speak !
Galahad has talent no doubt but it's far too early to start assessing his chances on the World Scene.
I can't agree with your statement about power mate - but hopefully that will come as his body matures and the Ingles work on his punching technique.

He seems a nice guy. Decent domestic sklls.

I'm not quite so sold on his power at all though and it needs to be worked on a lot, and I think Lee Haskins would be too strong for him.

On world level - there doesn't seem to be much hope, with the likes of Agbeko, Donaire, Mares, Darchinyan etc who can all punch very hard for their weight class, I think he'd be in deep water if he can't wack and wouldn't last more than 2, 3 rounds tops.

For example the last slick boxer that Donaire fought was Wlad Sydorenko. A skilled fighter, but couldn't really punch. After Donaire had felt his best shots, he walked through and obliterated him.

Sydorenko beat Poonsawat (who destroyed Bernard Dunne in 3 rounds) so he was world class. Yet inside 4 rounds he looked like this:-

Sydenrenko won a Bronze at the olympics (should have done better) and a silver at the Worlds.

So there is world class, and there is Elite class which the top guns fight in.

Barry is a TOP, TOP lad with great potential. Very good skills and a real rat-like cunning - an instinctively tricky and intelligent fighter. I've seen him really frustrate Kell at times and when he stands southpaw he handles Kell as well as anyone i have seen.

He has excellent potential but there is no rush. You wouldn't believe it to watch him as his footwork and punch variety are excellent but he's actually a comparatively late starter in the game - he didn't really start training regularly til he was 15. So he's got a LOT of improving left in him.

To put into perspective just how adept he is defensively, Barry has never been dropped either in an amateur fight, pro fight for in sparring and he has sparred hundreds of rounds open with the likes of Junior Witter, Kell Brook, Adnan Amar, Steve Barnes (very strong kid) and Sam O'Maison (very big punching amateur) at Wincobank. Plus, he's sparred 'away from home' the likes of Yassine El Maachi, Scott Quigg, Rhys Roberts and Stephen Smith (and always done well and learnt from the experience).

Baz's own punch power is developing as he fills out and Dom is working hard on him both technically but also in terms of conditioning and weights. Dom tells me he's is very strong and good at the weights and rates him one of the best trainers in the gym.

There's no rush with him, though. Hennessey is really, really keen on him and he's got a great chance to build his exposure on Fury undercards on Five. I think he would acquit himself well with our best domestic fighters right now but in terms of potential, i would hope that in due course he will go far beyond domestic level. I think if he was to box for a title now it would be at 8'10 but in due course probably end up at featherweight.

Massive potential.

Freakishly strong.

Remember, it took Naz 8 years to develop his punch power. In a couple of years Barry will develop his own "rocket launchers".

Not much amateur experience, so no hurry with him.

The sky's the limit.

Great stuff. It's good to see the Ingle's still rolling out quality fighters. It's like a conveyor belt there.Kell is really beginging to look the part now as well.

Brook's increased prominence as one of British Boxing's stars could massively help Galahad. He's getting plenty of action at the moment and is clearly improving now. Always had the talent, but has needed things to fall at the right time. Looks stronger now and that Ingle style could make him a very tricky opponent in two or three fights time when he steps up to domestic level.

Are you serious? Galahad has very little power. he has time to improve his power at just 21. Looks very skilled and fast though, needs testing,

Well with every shot Galahad threw you could see on Ancliff's face how much it hurt him.
