Don't ask me why, but that reminds me of the late wrestler Larry O'Day. Larry's real surname was Davis. He was on a club card in the early 1960s one St Patrick's Day when the promoter decided he needed an Irish wrestler. Larry Davis from St Marys suddenly became Larry O'Day the Irishman.

Why don't you ask Jamie Myer to put him against you for the commonwealth title?

Any particular reason? Most of the good Irish fighters seem to live in the USA or UK.

Steve dellar has some Irish fight nights when Dennis hogan and paddy Murphy are fighting.

They sure get a good turn out of Irish fans in the crowd. They both seem very popular amongst the Irish population in Brisbane, hogan especially

Hogan and Murphy may have been born in Ireland but all their pro fights have been in Australia.

Call yourself "Paddy Murphy" and you are bound to attract a crowd expecting to see a wild Irishman.

Funny thing about Irishness. A group of Masons and Orangemen objected to my grandfather being promoted to foreman with the NSW Government Railways in the 1920s because his father was an Irish Catholic. At the same time Jewish actors were taking Irish names in Hollywood.

I suppose bigotry depends on numbers.
