Mr James De Gale

Tonight he fought a tough tough Polish kid, he was caught and hurt bad but still pulled a win out of the bag. He just dos'nt have the Benn, Eubanks,Watson, Collins aggression but yet looks so good in stages. But as soon as a fight finishes he kills all respect any fan has for him by the attitude he has. Ok boxers has made a great deal of money from it but not De Gale he is really a thorn in his own boot

Clev looking MUCH sharper. I wish they'd stop that stupid "there's only one..." song.

Am not comparing him to them champs in that respect but at the start a was like come on polish guy but as the fight went on a got with De Gale, but as soon as he won a realised why so many fans hate the kid he's no respect for any boxer only Mr De Gale tut tut tut

I like Degale, he's a bit of a berk at times, but he's not a bad fighter at all. But lets be real - He was rocked and bust open by a man sparked in 3 rounds by Curtis Stevens tonight.
*cue heart/inexperience apologists.
He is just too inconsistent. He'll pull off some slick combo, then get rocked by a telegraphed 2nd class right hand. The loss has dented his confidence definitely and he needs to quit talk of Kessler etc for 12 months at least. He was in trouble tonight more than once. At the close of a mid round, he was out on his feet.
The man he beat tonight had beaten nobody, and his record ratio was barely level with Wins and Losses.
I think Kenny Anderson takes him out on tonight's performance. P

Good win, for Degale. The only worry, for me is that the Pole was not a banger, by any stretch and he wobbled James, a couple of times.
Not saying he is chinny but he will have to face bigger bangers as he progresses. Can't avoid them all.

He put me in mind of a more accomplished Audley Harrison tonight, good in bursts but amateurish lack of aggression, switch off of concerntration.
Didn't like the way he looked for someone to blame post fight. Needs to recognise his failings to move up. He could do with a change in regime to get him out of his comfort zone IMHO perhaps he should re locate a la khan

I'd take Degale to take Anderson apart on the performance he gave against Smith. I think he'll get better, think it was a tough fight to take after the loss.
Kenny smash him to bits!

He needs to go back to boxing and moving more and using that jab, but he answered alot of questions tonight. I was pretty impressed.

kennys style is made for degale, thought degale showed great heart to win, he should make a few defences against fringe world class fighter then go for brian magee the most beatable 'world' champion

Anderson is one of the most overrated fighters on this forum. He hasn't won a meaningful fight.

Piotr Wilczewski is a totally average opponent who James made look good.
Unless they both improve massively then Degale and Grove are going nowhere.
At this present time either would get soundly beaten by the second string of super middles like Sakio Bika, Allan Green, Arthur Abraham, Librado Andrade and Andre Dirrell let alone the Elite class of Andre ward, Carl Froch, Mikkel Kessler, Lucien Bute and Kelly Pavlik(if he soughts his shit out)

I thought he came across as less of a twat in his post fight interview than I've ever heard him.
I agree, he was honest about what went on with the fight. I dont like the guy, but credit where credit is due, 12 fights in and he is the new Euro champion thats impressive. Say what you want about the other guy, he still only lost 1 fight and has been around at that level for years. Great performance from Degale and he will learn a lot from that fight.

Who will he fight next? Sanavia is mandatory or Artur Abraham ranked no1 by EBU

He proved a lot of things in there tonight and that will help him no end in the future. It wasn't a dominant performance, but nevertheless a very good one against what IMO is a very underated opponent

Degale isn't quite as special as he thinks he is. Decent win last night but he is far to easy to hit.

Oh, FFS stop being so bloody sniffy man. You're complaining about his 'attitude' like you're a 14 year old going through puberty. Degale is 25 years old and he's had 12 fights and he's learning about boxing and life. Give him a break for god's sake.

I know what he is saying but I am struggling with the reasoning or logic behind it.
Based on what? Its just a dumb comment really.
Does he think the average person on the street in Dudley is more clued up on the varies alphabet shenanigans than the average person on the street in Dublin? Or does he just think we are all dumb Paddies that havent the ability to recognise the difference in the WBU and the WBA champion.

what fights i saw of degale on the way up (pre-smith) reminded me of audley - soft, pawing and amatuerish.

Most of the posts on this thread baffle me. We're talking about a twelve fight novice who was thrown in at the deep end and won. That was man vs boy and boy won. Of course he didn't win easy, of course he didn't dominate, did anybody honestly expect him to? Everybody and their dog who posts on boxing forums constantly complain about about young or inexperienced fighters being matched too softly and then when the opposite happens everybody dives in and says the lad's just crap. I thought he'd lose that and he's shown us all a few attributes we didn't know he had. If anything, the only valid criticism is that he's perhaps being moved a bit too fast.

Who cares, what I want to know is whether McCloskey is British or Irish?
