From thaiboxing to boxing

What could people recommend when converting from muay thai boxing to regular boxing?
I find it hard to compete without using legs. Does anybody have any experience they want to share to help me improve my boxing skills.
75 kg - 19 years old.

the more you train in boxing the easier it will become to mentally change your thinking from thai. May take couple months. also wear your boxing boots in training, then your less likely to kick.

I took the transfer from Shotokan Karate to boxing, it's tough at first as you feel slightly wrong footed and things and there's no need to keep your legs ready to kick, your stance will change over time and you'll feel relaxed eventually. Just takes practice and time.
Try alot of shadow boxing in your out of training times, do focus mits and bag work too as it'll generate the habit.

Weight distribution is a big thing. Martial artists are always back footed. It would take some time to bring the weight over the front foot.

Yes, I keep putting my weight on my back foot. It results in low mobility as I can't keep distance with kicks.
I just got midcut Lonsdale boots to prevent me from thinking about kicks. I hope it'll help.

Learnt something yesterday, in alot of martial arts you don't 'push off' as much when throwing punches etc. - particularly in the point scoring style of competing as you're so busy trying to keep it 'clean'.
A great way to get used to foot work is to move in and out (and across) on the ladders - or even without them.

(not a great example, but read on)
Work on propelling yourself from your front foot onto your back and vice versa, rather than just moving your legs, use them to shift your entire body. If you watch yourself in the mirror (side on) you don't want to see your head staying static, your head should move with your body using the pushing power from the legs.

Iveworked with the problem, get some elastic leg shackles round the ankles. Keep them on all the time you train, it will take a month, then try it without them.

Alex, Two ankle straps one on each leg, stand Feet shoulder width apart. Then tie elastic between them. 6 mil should do
