Horta v Byrne

So whatever has gone on, this fight is now the main event for Tonight.
Byrne is back in the ring a week after beating Frontin, in what I thought was a bit of a lack luster display, Byrne said after the long lay off had affected him, and this could be true, but Frontin connected with enough right hands to ask questions about Byrne's ability.
Horta is coming on off a draw for the France welterweight title, and has been around this level for a number of years, he gave big punching Mark Thompson a good arguement in 2007 before losing by 1 round on points.
I'm expecting a cagey fight, neither boxer is a big puncher. And i wouldn't be surprised if the visitor won, but i think we'll see a more positive Byrne in this one, and he'll come through on points

Good summing up Ian, Horta is nobody's mug and whilst assuming Byrne will progress from last week, he will have to because that performance see's Horta win this on pts, he is quite busy for a southpaw and not that hard to hit so Byrne may not have to go looking for him, the Frenchman will know he needs to win the rounds clearly over here to have any chance, its a good fight.
Strange thing is whilst missing seeing Gavin in action, this is actually a more competitive fight than what the other may have been.
Horta never been stopped and not a big puncher, any stoppage should be late on but would expect this to go the distance and be close.

I was just a bit bored at work, a couple of the undercard are lads under 5 fights and making a debut, so can understand why they are matched carefully.
I would like to see at least 3 even matches on the bill though, and we've not got that.
The main event is a good match-up , even fight.

As I've said in a previous thread this is a risky fight for Byrne to take at such short notice. He had plenty of ring rust against Frontin last week and hopefully the eight rounds was enough to shake it off. The positive thing about Dean is that he has plenty of ability and potential which didn't shine through last week but this is a perfect stage to show what he can really do. I've only seen small clips of Horta on Youtube and he looks like a tough lad and his record backs it up so it is surely destined to head 12 rounds.

His first fight in England was last week, the rest have been in Ireland and the US. Looked OK against a good mover, but got tagged a few times too.

But he hasn't been overhere long has he? (I don't think he looked particuly good the otherday.)

He has been living in the UK close to a year now. Spent a bit of time in Australia aswell and won the Australian LWW title.

I think its a fight that could well go to Horta, depends how much was ring rust last week by Byrne, or was it as good as it gets for him.
I didn't agree with some of what Horta said, but he came across as a determined and hungry man. And entertaining

Bit of a shock that one. As I was watching it, it reminded me a bit of Jamie Moore's last fight. Hall saying it was the correct decision by the ref.

I watched a bit of that fight and Hall looked really poor in terms of his decent. Honestly he just needs to give up now, he's a great lad, but the quality is just not there.
