Who is Levan Ghvamichava?

See Levan Ghvamichava beat Giuseppe Lauri by stoppage in 2 rounds on Friday night in Scotland, seeing as this was only his 6th fight thats not a bad result, even if Lauri is near the end of his career.

Does anyone have any background info on Ghvamichava?

Whoa that is a cracking result for a 5 fight novice!

I'm very interested to see this kid in action. Looks like he can bang.

He is a unibrowed Belfast-based Georgian light-welter that shares a flat with Willie Casey (oh to be a fly on the wall!) and is managed by Gary Hyde.
Genuine dynamite in both mitts and cant get matched with any Irish or British fighter as he is likely to whip out the banjo and play a few well tuned cords on them!
Only turned pro this year but offered to fight Lenny Daws on the Fury bill next month - also offered to fight Witter in Belfast (politely declined!)
Dont take your eyes off him.

As i said Lauri is near the end of his career, but still has been around a good level. So quite a risk for a 6th fight.
I'd never heard of the lad Ghvamichava till i saw the result, was wondering what sort of amateur record he had

I dont think thats correct is it!? What weight and years did he win those medals?

There is no record of him competing at the Beijing Olympics at either LW or LWW:

I can't find any record of him winning a medal at any World Championships in the last 10 years either.

Sky sent a camera to film the action in Scotland - so anyone watching Ringside on Thursday will see a bit of Levan in action, he does look a handful. There's also some highlights of Dennis Hobson's Sheffield bill featuring Liam 'Cannonball' Cameron.

He was offered to fight Daniel rasilla, former UE and EBU challenger, but the spaniard wont go fight him.
He seems very dangerous, with patience and good fights he can be a true champion.

Not quite as impressive as the Lauri result, but he stopped Laszlo Komjathi in 2 rounds in his second fight as well!

They were scheduled to fight in Belfast earlier this year if I remember correctly and Rasilla decided not to turn up. Levan fought a Hungarian instead and just battered him.
I've seen Levan about 2 or 3 times now and he is the business. Believe the hype

Didn't know Casey ran about with Eric Cantona.

That right Steve, the fight and purse were all agreed and passed by the board, then Rasilla pulled out as the meds were getting passed. The Hungarian was a short notice opponent to be fair.
There has also been some talk of Levan facing Yassine El Machi, (although drunken contracts on napkins dont count, I did try tho lol). This is still a fight that could happen.
The Wolf, is the real deal and trains well with out constant pressure, one of Garys better signings.

No qualms with the Hungarian, he tried but was outgunned. Paddy Cronan was in his corner as well!
