This one appears to have slipped under the radar. It's the main support for the Angulo - Kirkland fight in Mexico on Saturday night.

McEwan was stopped by Andy Lee in his last fight so fair dues to him for stepping back into the ring against a highly touted and highly ranked opponent in Quillin, who is trained by Freddie Roach and makes his HBO debut on Saturday. According to the article below he refused a IBF Eliminator in Australia so he could take the fight with McEwan on HBO. The American is apparently a Super Middleweight but has always weighed in closer to the Middleweight mark of 160 and that is where he is likely to campaign.

It's a ballsy move by McEwan and his team to take the fight coming off his only defeat, but at 29 he has to start moving on with his career and try make the breakthrough. If he loses (which I think he will unfortunately) it's tough to see where he goes next. Maybe a trip back to Britain to start a campaign for domestic honours.

great fight. Read a lot about Quillin so it will be nice to finally see him fight

I actually read on BS that Quillin and McEwan sparred a good few rounds together when Craig was at the Wildcard. Unfortunately I can't find any footage, I'm sure it was interesting.

Should be a cracker, Quillen blows hot and cold out of the 3 times I've seen him once (Brinkley) he looked genuine world class but the other two, especially Zuniga, he struggled to get a rhythm looked frustrated and generally not that impressive. McEwan is a good boxer but I'm not sure he has the power to keep Quillen off. Should be exciting to watch though

Yep, absolutely buzzing for it but missing a hell of a weekend for boxing!!

I think I remember him looking extremely tired in the final rounds against Perez also (I think - may have been Vera) so that could be a worry..

He definately appears to tire in the later rounds, it definately played a big part in him loosing the Lee fight. Lets hope he's learned from it and can pace himself better against Quillin. The guy does not seem to have a big output so if McEwan can go the distance with him he should be in with a good shout.

unfortunatly his fights fell on the same night as rickys,so hes getting trained by gary young.

I think Andy Lee was given very little credit for the stopage of McEwan,but i think McEwan will win this handy and prove that Craig is up their in the Middleweight division!!

Because he was being outboxed and i'm sure behind on all cards at the time of the stoppage. It appeared the KO came about more to do with McEwan gassing rather than anything else.

Fair play to Lee, he won the fight fair and square, but he looked far from a world beater in doing so.

I think Lee was only behind on one of the cards and the other two judges had it level.
