I used to collect these but I've lost them over the years. Can you do me a favour and look something up. I was remembering a fight from 1999 when Gilbert Eastman got knocked out by Kofi Jantuah it states on boxrec that the fight was on 6-3-99. The thing is me and my dad both remember watching this fight and would have watched it because my cousin Mark Potter would have been on the same bill (under Panix Promotions) but it doesn't show him fighting on here. Does it say in BBoC book that he fought on that day because it doesn't on Boxrec. Would be handy if you could look this up it's been doing my head in for a couple of weeks, cheers

mark didnt box on the bill his first contest in 1999 was 08-05-99 against piotr jurczyk

Yes I went to that fight, they were both under Panix Promotions, I would have seen most of Danny Watts fights, he got into security after boxing didn't he? Yep Marks doing cage fighting now although he had an unlicensed fight last week.

thats bad news regarding the yearbook finishing,whats the reason cos they are a mine of information ? ive got about alot from the first in 85 till late 90,s and a good source and addition to have in your collection so this years is the last one then ?

Sad to hear that the yearbook is finishing. I still think there is a place for them, despite the records being on BoxRec now.

what are panix promotions upto now days ?

The best bit of the yearbook for me was the fact that it listed the contact details of every manager, promoter and matchmaker in the UK.

This book used to be vital, then along came boxrec.

To be honest the quality of the book has been on the slide since the 95/96 edition, I used to love the biographies on the current world champions, then they replaced them with crumby pocket biographies.

Will still miss the book though

No it didn't quite happen, he phoned twice but nothing was arranged and it was gonna cost me atleast 30 quid a day to get there, I do feel it was a missed opportunity but I'm sure everybody knows how busy life gets - I'm in New Zealand now and fly to Australia tomorrow so it's not gonna happen now. Hopefully he'll put it up again, but this time stress exactly what it involves and how it's a prize, it didn't really feel like a prize.

Thats a shame. I always assumed you'd have to travel there and cover the costs yourself to be honest, I'd applied with that in mind. In what way did you feel it wasn't as advertised? I'm not having a pop here, I was just keen to do it (as were others) and I'm wondering what (if any) goal posts had moved... Even when I wasn't picked, I had looked forward to reading someone else's experience.

I don't think the goalposts were moved mate, I just didn't know what was happening, In all fairness to Frank he said call him back anytime and I didn't, like I said life gets busy sometimes.

Fair enough. I understand life gets busy sometimes, I'd have probably contacted FTM to let them know I'm not interested so someone who is can have a bash at it, but fair do's.
