Sad to see the loss of another warrior from the hey day of Leichhardt Stadium, especially one who fought the great George Barnes early in his career.
Rest in peace, Bert.

RIP warrior Hornby

I'm sure Boxerc would appreciate exact day of passing, as would his exact DOB. January 1, 1930 suggests it was based on media reports (age) @ some stage. Photo or two of him in his days in the ring would also be appreciated :P

Hi everyone, this is Bert's daughter Jeanette. I just wanted to say that my family is very touched by the comments posted on this site. Thank you!
My Dad sadly passed away on 6th November, 2011. He was born on 29-Mar-29.
We have posted a short boxing tribute for Dad on YouTube which you can access via this address:
http://youtu.be/b_hXsTIsSpQ Or, you could search on YouTube site by just typing in Bert Hornby.
I need to have the BoxRec site updated to show his boxing record: 65 fights, 52 wins, 9 losses, 4 Draws and 29 KOs.
Debbie, my sister has kept a great scrap book record of our Dad's career and can provide details, newspaper clippings and photos.
The 10 Bell salute at the Croatian Club last Friday was a very proud moment for our family and one which we'll hold dear in our hearts.
His service was on the 11-11-11 which was fitting, as he is our number one and our hero!!!

Hello, thanks for the kind words I'll pass the message on to my Mum. I'll ask Deb to add the correction for Sids name when she sends all the information through to BoxRec to update Dads records.
We're going to put some time aside to go through all his newspaper clippings soon, so we can get the most accurate information together to update this site.
