Obviously not barefoot, like naked, but in shoes like Nike Free's, Merrell Trailgloves, or Vibram five fingers. Anyone do/done it... apparently it's great, but takes a bit of getting used to..

Investing in a pair on Nike Free's for Christmas. My mate has a pair and loves them.

Got a pair the other day, after all the useful advice on this thread

Wore them for training today, and they're rediculously comfy :TU:

Nike Free's are fornicating awesome. Love them. Do all my long distance road work in them.

Tried Five Finger's a couple years ago.....worst experience ever. Was good for a month, but running with them on asphalt is just too hard of a surface for shoes like those.....I ended up with killer pains on the insides of my ankles/mid-foot....I don't know what it was, stress fractures or something, sucked.

But for trail running, I think Five Finger's or other minimalist shoes would be great. I use Inov-8 F-Lite 195 for trails and sprints and they are awesome.

One of our blue belts tells us of stories when he was doing Kenpo Karate that they were made to go out running barefoot in the snow to kill the nerves in their feet. Lol.

I've got the Merrell Trailgloves and they're fantastic, but haven't done any long runs in them yet. If I'm honest I mostly use them for crossfit metcons and lifting, with the occasional sprint session.

i love long distance running and have read runners world for years. Obviously all this bare foot running and specialised shoes thing kicked off a few years ago after the book "born to run" and the vibram fingers really took off after that.

The irony is nike and all the other companies who added all the extra padding in the 80's etc onwards with the jordan shoes are now doing their own minimal support and cushioning shoes!

I well say this, I spent most my life at 11 or 12 stone and running at that weight u just dont get that kind of injuries like shin splints etc. For 3 years i bulked up put on 55 lbsof muscle and walked around at 210 to 190. At that weight no matter what your shoe no matter your barefoot or whatveer its very hard to run well long distances without injury when u have a load of muscle mass on ur legs. since i dropped down to 160 im as light as a feather and race up hills and im back to doing 40 miles a week.
