5k Park runs , good fun

Don't know if any of you would be interested, but these park runs are good fun.
They are all over the country and take place on a Saturday morning at 9am. the course is over 5k, and you register online to get a barcode, so you can be scanned at the start and finish to get your time and see where you came, and what your time is. This is then entered in the website so you can try and beat your PB each week.
best bit is its free, and its for all levels. So its not full of running experts trying to beat records.

I have one near me but the missus won't come with me and I HATE running on my own - you'd be the same if you had an arse like me. Meh, she's runs 5k in around 28 minutes but won't do Parkrun. My fist might have to change her mind.

But you won't be on your own, there'll be hundreds of runners there.
And I'm sure there's bigger arses out there.

I mean my arse is so fine I'm scared of rapage and pillaging.

I might go along on my own - it does sound good - only trouble is, it's a 2 mile walk and I have no car.

I may do it!

20.42. Nowhere near what I'd like.
The best thing about parkrun is that it doesn't matter if you run 17 minutes or 30 minutes, it's always really hard.

I'd be bang up for that if it weren't for work. Working and doing the MA I'm finding it so hard to make time for anything these days, getting to the gym once a week is about all I have managed recently and even then I've not time for roadwork.

Well... I did my first park run today. I took 3 minutes off my PB.

Nice work, it's a slippery slope once you get the 50 T shirt in your sights.

Nice work. I've given up on getting quicker (for now) so I'm chasing my 100 T shirt.

yeah i clocked who was just in front of me on the other runs, and then tried to use them as my pace makers. now to aim for under 23 mins.

ive now registered for this after seeing it on here, think im gonna pop over to my local one this weekend and scope it out with the intention of doing it next week.

My local one is strathclyde park, anyone do that?

Whats with the start etc? group start? individual start?

looks like a good idea.

Why scope? Just do!
All mass starts. Take your barcode. Take token at finish. Follow rest of finishers to get barcode and token scanned. job done.

I already have a routine which includes a long run on a fri and sun.
A run inbetween will mess them up so i will scope it out and reorganise my runs next week to fit around that. Wanna do it fresh for a good time.

got it down to 22.27 now, pleased with that. New trainers helped, Asics 1170. First time in years no knee pain when running
