Looking at comments on this forum and some of the texts read out on the Bunce radio show I'm wondering if Pacquiao's reputation has been more damaged by winning a disputed decision than it would have been had he lost.

The result definatly left a bad taist in the mouth and I guess a lot of people, particularly those who've seen a limited number of Pacquiao fights will feel this puts other fights results in question, I know I felt like that after Reid Ottke, just wondering how much people think the nature of the result damaged him, and indeed weather he needs to have a rematch before fighting PBF

I think it's unfair that people seem to be blaming him for getting a disputed decision. What was he supposed to do, tell the judges to change their cards? People seem to be turning against him. I can't believe he got booed during his post-fight interview.

In Marquez he just seems to have run into his nemesis. All 3 decisions are disputed, but we shouldn't forget that many people DO agree with them (including the last one). It's a great rivalry that gives us plenty to talk about.

I have conseciously staye clear from the Pacman/Marquez fight 3 threads, but this one I can't ingore:

I would not say that his reputation has been "damaged" I think it is too strong a word and in actual fact it is unsuitable and misleading (due to the fact that it implies the disputed result is Pacquaio's fault).

If anything I would say that his performance (and the subsequent result) are a grounding for some of Pacquaio's fans out there.

Somm on here describe Pacman as an unbeatable machine, and while I do enjoy watching him fight I do recognise that he's human and he's allowed to have a bad fight. So it is a nice little dose of reality for some.

Pacman may not be as good as some lunatics think he is, but he's still in the top 2 pound-for-pound best fighters in the world and he would pose a serious challenge to Mayweather's unbeaten record.

Honestly I think that is nonsense to the hgihest degree. Fight results are not related that in itself is a flawed logic because EVERY fight is different.

If anyone wants to gain a well-informed opinion on just how good Pacquaio is I would reccomend taking the time out to watch:
Pacman vs Hatton
Pacman vs Cotto
Pacman vs Margarito
Pacman vs Mosley
Pacman vs De La Hoya

All of which have been dominant displays against very good opposition. (And in the future, I happen to think that all five of these opponents will be looked back upon as great fighters)

A rematch? No I would not like to see yet another one. I mean, come on. Marquez has not officially beat Pacman and he's had 3 cracks at it.

Let's move on, I say. Howabout Pacquaio vs Martinez maybe at Light Middlweight? I'd like to see that.

I think boxing's reputation has been damaged more by the outcome than Manny's.

It was the most one-sided of the three fights IMO, it wasn't really that close yet we saw one judge having Pacquiao 8-3 up going into the last round. You'd think that Marquez wasn't going to be allowed to win.

I'm happy to see a 4th fight, though I've obviously got reservations about the outcome.

The best scenario would have been for Marquez to have gotten the decision that he deserved, then a 4th fight with it all on the line.
