He was voted fighter of the year last night at the BBBOfC awards, do you think the right decision was made or do you think someone else should have had it?

No I think they are spot on; the UK's best at the moment by quite some distance. Vastly improved and lightning quick - I don't see who else could have won it?

What do you think?

I think he deserved it.

Amir Khan is not the best by some distance. Carl Froch is about level with him.

I think he's the best Brit but I don't know if just 2 fights (McCloskey and Judah) means he's had the best year. Then again, so far this year Froch has only had 1 fight (Johnson) so Khan has done more than Froch this year.... so far!

By some distance I mean Pound for Pound best at his weight. If Froch beats Ward then I agree with you - he will be about level.

I think they do it from September to August.

Khan: Maidana, McCloskey & Judah.
Froch: Abraham & Johnson.

You are right Horse, September backwards.

Froch is currently considered to be at roughly the same P4P ranking as Khan, so neither is "by some distance" better than the other.

What about the other awards? Young fighter? Fight of the year?

I would have also selected Khan.

All of their choices seem to be correct.

Its a scandal Carl Froch has not got it.
Carl is the best value world champ we've had for the last couple years.

However, its over the last 12 months - Carl's only won in one defence in which he was the hot favourite before hand. Khan partially unified the title and made an additional defence.

Scadelous that Carl hasn't won it in previous years - yes, possibly.... but last year wasn't his most active.

Lets hope he does it in December and is a shoeing next year. Well, actually - lets hope not.... cause that might mean both Carl and Amir would have had some excellent fights in 2012.

Beat Maidana, his mandatory and a fighter that he was supposedly avoiding.
Beat Mc Closkey
Beat Judah, very impressively and unified titles and now holds the IBF title

Its fair, Froch is unlucky because he doesn't fight that regularly to Khan.

Khan is a decent choice. Maidana is a good win. Judah totally shot though and McLoskey was inconclusive against a EU level boxer.

Ricky Burns is a decent possibility as well - 3 world fights, (only one of them of real value though) - though he was underdog against the feared Kat and has to be applauded for making progress.

Frock only had one fight though was a good one.

It was the right decision.

Khan is easily the UK's best boxer, although Froch deserves a mention, but even he trails Khan for 2011 IMO.

Well either Amir or Carl. Amir has been more active, which is not Carl's fault. Both are worthy and no one else.

The only one of value was after September so will be considered for 2012
