How much does a small hall show cost to promote?

As the question suggests does anyone have any information on how much as small hall show costs to stage
for example how much do the fighters get paid?
Arena/sportshalls?
what are the sanctioning fees for British/international masters belts plus other belts that appear on small hall shows?
etc
just thought it was a interesting topic wondering how much it costs?
Posted the same question on Eastside

As far as I'm aware York Hall costs around 2k to hire out for a small hall promotion. Tv shows are more.
A standard fighters purse is in the region of 1k to £1200 but then most fighters are on ticket deals, meaning they may take more money home if they sell so many tickets etc. However the BBBoC are trying to stop ticket deals (which is ridiculous)
I don't know how much sanctioning fees are although don't forget the cost of security which is another 2k and then £600 for the ring to be put up.
It quickly adds up and it becomes understandable why promoters cant make a living without TV deals.

Whatever it costs for the venue and the boxers, if you want an intercontinental title to be contested in the main event its another ten quid.

fighters getting 1k to £1200 ???? depends whos fighting i guess but id have said more like £800-£1000 but then again i suppose if its averaged out as some will get more then thinking about it maybe i wont argue with you on that one .
Losing the ability to do ticket deals would be rediculous but in all fairness i dont think fighters HAVE to sell the tickets as theyll still get the purse but those who dont sell them will be less likely to get fights , promotors have got costs to cover , those tickets really wont sell themselves on small hall shows , fighters selling the tickets is vital
Ring is a bit cheaper than that though £350 last time i used ringmaster which i think is the company most pro promotors probably use , i personally prefer unibox though , good bunch of lads .
the security you may have underestimated as its not cheap , costs £1000 for my unlicensed shows in nottingham so could be pretty costly .
and the venues it varies i suppose .
Sanctioning fees , costs of refs/judges/inspectors etc , ring girls (couple of hundred quid) , mc , dj ,medics , the list of un seen extras all costs .

its needed mate , really is , these lowly undercard local fighters are unheard of outside their own town , even just going 10 miles away no ones heard of them , its the way boxing is nowdays , if a fighter cant sell tickets he has to become a journeyman , otherwise he aint making a living out of this sport unless hes something special , promotors do a difficult job as it is without trying to promote somoene as the next big thing when everyone out there can see its not the case, can be hard enough to do with fighters who really are the real deal let alone the ones who cant fight their way out of a wet paper bag

Out of interest Damien what is the breakdown for all of these. Potentially dipping my toe in as well as well and want to have an idea for every potential cost plus contingency.

No, what rumour?
Stop moaning about the ratings, you had a pretty abusive thread about that subject deleted last night if I am not mistaken. They are automated. It you think a fight is in the wrong weight category simply drop a polite note here and they will sort it -

same here but im also doing the unlicensed shows and putting all the money earned into an account ready for the pros .
in reply to the other question i dont know how much for the board officials such as timekeepers , referees , judges etc , i plan on picking the brains of a certain person very soon , as for mc i think it will depend on a price negotiated with the specific mc , rather than a set amount , my plan is to take my current mc pro with me and keep using him , but from what i gather i think its approx £500 , dj's again are negotiated individually but there not too expensive , better dj means more money of course but £350 is what id expect at a maximum for a small hall show , ring girls i pay £20 per hour and plan is to stick to that for as long as i can , paramedic crew with ambulance can be got for as little as £150 but i wouldnt recommend using the cheaper ones , a good one i found charges £700 , dr i think is appointed by board so not sure how much a pro licensed dr would be at this point in time , dont take what im saying as gospel though as im only just figuring out all this type of thing due to being maybe so used to how it works with the unlicensed stuff that i know myself ill need to adjust my way of of doing things when moving into the pros , the general ideas are the same (or at least they should be with any reputable promotor ) but there are definate differences , unfortunately those differences cost more .
edit : id say jon is probably not far off as ive just worked out from costs that i know of at £15900 , thats without sanctioning fees for any titles ,with approx prices for officials along with what im expecting them to be and was based on 6 fights . 500 ticket sales should about cover it , and then a further 60 or so ticket sales needed for each additional bout .
basically 6 home fighters doing an average of around 80 tickets each , if one is doing more tickets then someone who your trying to build up who maybe doesnt do so many tickets yet can be thrown in etc .

two doctors are needed they are usualy 200 each plus expenses ,ref come to about 150 bigger show you need 2 refs, time keeper 125 plus expenses,
Damion never pay for your ring girls there are plenty of places willing to let you use girls to advertise there club. Most places are that happy to get a good beer drinking audience that you can get a DJ as part of the deal. Paramedic is about 350 on average.
MC about 150. House seconds 50 quid each,Whip 100 quid to 150 depends how good he is. Board tax depends how good the show is but minimum of 300 pound.
Security varies but what ever you do dont pay for secuirty in areas they arnt needed if you are going to have some one stand by a fire exit door all event just to keep it shut then pay a steward leave the security where they are needed in the arena or front door.
Remember as most of the ticket sales are through the boxers if you need 18k then you actualy need about 19.5k because of ten per cent commision most boxers get
Also a boxer who can shift ringsides can be a god send as those extra 20s can be a real help.

cheers for that jon , actually cheaper than my estimated prices , in fact i think im paying more on my unlicensed shows and still turning descent profits on shows doing approx 700 tickets
i currently pay £200 ref (and he still asks for more )
£150 mc
Medical team £700
DJ £100
Timekeeper £100
Ring girls £320
Security £1000 (sometimes less depends on the venue)
obviously other costs too but just in comparison to those mentioned above

It's a difficult one. It is probably easier to become a 'professional' boxer than a professional in any other sport - MMA has perhaps overtaken boxing in this. Providing your arms pretty much work with some degree of synchronicity, you can pass the medical and bluff a board official that you can box, you're in. It's a piece of piss. The net result is a swathe of blokes swanning around the place as pro-fighters who are, in reality, shit. The only people who don't realise - or won't accept - these blokes are shit are their friends and family. Only friends and family (and friends of friends and family) will buy tickets; and they'll only buy them if their boy keeps winning. Hence the requirement for shit journeymen or (as is more often the case) journeymen who will, for the appropriate purse (bribe), perform to a standard lower than that which they could perform if they really wanted to.
In an ideal world the set-up would be such that these crappy pros were prepared to box as amateurs, in the same way the vast majority of Sunday leaguers play footy for no wage, but a combination of circumstances prevent this from happening.

I was going to post my own reply, but the above post sums the situation up nicely.
It is an interesting topic - what happens to the boxer who shows good talent and commitment, but for whatever reason doesn't sell many tickets at the beginning until he has built up a profile / following ?

he could end up only having fights as the opponent , which would make it tough as if hes good people may not want him as their lads opponent , a good promotor i would like to think would put them on shows in which other bigger ticket sellers can cover costs of his fights until hes built up enough of a name to do a good few tickets , got this situation myself on my unlicensed shows , ive got 4 pro level fighters , 2 of which sell barely any tickets , i keep putting them out though , getting them known , eventually their popularity will grow and also their fighting out of a gym that has some descent ticket sellers on the unlicensed circuit , my way of thinking is that when theyre pro and those bigger ticket sellers arent they could pick up several ticket sales from the ones who arent going to make pros , they may struggle to do 10 each on unlicensed but if theyve a mate who does 100 they can surely pick up a few of his for pro shows , or maybe im being a bit too optimistic , time will tell i guess , there only young lads and will still only be 23 and 24 when im pro so ill take them pro with me and go from there i guess .
