This post is for Nasty, Looks like your God (mesi) is fighting Jirov
Baby" Joe Mesi will make his next ring appearance against recent longtime cruiserweight champion Vassiliy Jirov. Jirov has only tested the heavyweight division once before. He was disappointed with his performance and stayed the cruiserweight champion until James Toney beat him last April. The fight will be the televised undercard to "Sugar" Shane Mosley vs. Winky Wright on March 13.

I'm kinda mysterfied about this fight and hope it dosen't take place.
Mesi has nothing to gain and everything to lose!
I'd rather he fight Micheal moorer than Jirov to be honest or some other proper heavyweight
Actually the best thing would be for Mesi to fight Barret again and put an end to any doubt that people may have had about him in the first fight!

Barret is due to fight Dominic Guinn next so we'll see how Guinn compares to Mesi.

He has nothing to gain? Sure he does. He'll have beaten a credible opponent (albeit a cruiserweight) and he might not have me still thinking he is a total chump.

Good points Loftgroov, If Mesi is going to be something in the devision, he must beat Jirov.
The only thing he'll lose is a possile underserving shot at Lewis, cause thats what I can see Lennox doing if he elects not to fight Klitchko. He'll have 1 more fight, in the Barrera mode (don't need a belt), and fight Mesi for a huge payday - against what some critics are starting to say against the next generations best hope.
I applaud Mesi for taking on Jirov, if he can't beat him - he's not going to be champ.

Cannot really see the point of this fight to ne honest, both are feeling sorry for themselves at the moment and it seems two lonely souls matched together! Jirov has been sulking and beating substandard foes since losing to Toney and Mesi was exposed slightly against Barrett, i pick Jirov here on workrate but his last venture into the Heavyweight scene was not successful so i suppose Mesi has a chance to put on some pressure and hurt him.
