Cotto - Margarito II : No threads ? What did people think ?

I noticed how there were no threads after the Cotto- Margarito fight !!!

Very Strange...........

What did people think to the fight ? Where now for both Cotto and Margarito ?

I wasn't suprised that it was stopped, Margarito was a little unfortunate to get the cut where he did, but his style will always lend itself to getting badly marked up and cut because he has virtually no defence. Would have been more of an interesting fight if the cut hadn't have happenned or not been so bad and the remaining rounds could have been finished. I wnted to see how Cotto would be over those last few rounds, but he looked more sharp and less drained at the higher weight and i think he would have closed out a points victory anyway. Cotto - Margaritto III Anybody ??

I've never seen a fighter do so much running in all of my life. Cotto must've covered enough distance to cross several states. :OhYes:

He's always been a favourite though, and this was never about Cotto bashing up Margarito, it was more of a cleansing, an exercise in closure.

Almost shed a tear myself, watching Cotto silently breathing in the win.

It's time to put Margarito in with someone who can do some real damage.

Justice was done.

Clinical performance from cotto, got loads of respect for cotto. Seems an honourable guy and a true warrior. He new what he had to do and executed it perfectly.

Fantastic display of boxing off the back foot from Cotto. I really felt pleased for him in what was a good old fashioned grudge match between two fighters who don't like each other. Margarito looked clueless for most of the fight, he was starting to come into a bit before the stoppage, but I don't think there would have been a repeat of their first fight.

I thought it was a masterclass from Cotto. That's as good as I've seen him. Some will say he ran a lot, I would say he showed superb footwork and moved around the ring brilliantly to not allow Margarito to pin him down. Footwork, upper-body movement, accurate combinations - top class. He'll beat Chavez Jr next.

I hope Margarito retires, he's taken too much punishment, that eye is a wrong 'un but pleased for Cotto he boxed very well.

I noticed during one of the open workouts, Cotto seemed to be working mostly on footwork drills and turning his man continually, which seems to have paid off.

I'm so happy that Cotto won, Margarito's eye seems to be irreperably damaged, must have too much scar tissue under the skin from the Pacman fight, reminiscent of Eubank whose eye never recovered properly from the first thompson fight.

Great to see Cotto close that chapter but I guess it would have been more satisfying if he'd finished him with one of those left hooks. Margarito is terminator like though I suppose, more so with that strange looking eye!

I was surprised at Cotto suggesting he wanted many more fights at the end. I had the impression he'd retire and enjoy his wealth and businesses.

Cotto boxed his ears off. Definitely a correct stoppage. What a tough tough man Margarito is

I think the win will have taken a huge load off his mind.

I'm pretty sure that we'll never see what Cotto could have been without the initial defeat, but we might see some good fights from him over the next couple of years before he gives it away.

Good luck to him.

Some will say he ran a lot because that's exactly what he did, he ran the whole fight long. Call it superb footwork all you want, he fought the fight he had to in order to win.

Running ?

Cotto absolutely took Margarito to the cleaners on punches landed.

86 crunching shots landed by left hook to that Columbo eye.

Running was Mosely vs Pac. What Cotto did last night was totally different IMO.

Running?! I thought the name of the game was give without getting whenever possible. Cotto boxed like a man who knew who knew what he wanted to do and was adept enough to work to the plan.

He had to do what he had to do in order to win. Get on the back foot, keep off the ropes, keep Margarito away and counter effectively enough to allow him to change his course of trajectory. :OhYes:

Made up for cotto, think it was a disciplined performance, considering margarito said he punches like a girl to do that to his face must be one hard accurate girl. cant see marg gettin a license to fight anywhere in the us again.

Alvarez VS Margarito next? Would be a huge fight in Mexico, timing could be perfect for Canelo!

Margarito - on the back of 2 heavy world title defeats - doesn't deserve an immediate 3rd crack at the title.

Doesn't always work like that though does it, unfortunately. I still think it would be an easy sell, a huge fight, and a great fight for Alvarez at this stage of his career

Cotto boxed beautifully. Picked Margarito off with the jab and combinations, his movement was brilliant. I thought that was Cotto's best performance to date he fought with his head and dished out a hammering to margarito

I found it strange there was no threads on this fight too, great performance from cotto, I thought margaritos eye was worse in the pacman fight, but no part 3 for me, hope cotto meets mayweather or pacman again, I know pacman beat him easily but I'm to sure now :TU:
