Donald Curry would win at 147; at least the one that beat Milton McCrory.

He was awesome that night & I really thought a new 147 star had been born in the post SRL & Hearns era, but alas, Curry didn't quite live up to my expectation

Your logic.

Rewind a few years back and if Forrest can Curry definitely can... :TU:

Yep i agree :TU: Look, best on best it's very close - the fact that the McCrory fight was used as an example is no different. This fight would be based on how good Curry was on that night alone, I'm basing it how good he was or wasn't on one partcular night the following year. It's all hyperthetical stuff as not all fighters are performing at their very best (even if they are at their peaks) when the face each other. So 'assuming' these 2 were at their best, I would find it hard to call, they both were very fast and boxed well and also hit very hard. Maybe Curry just takes it as he was very punch efficient and 'maybe' Sugar gets gassed quicker due to throwing the slightly less accurate punches.

The Mosley who stands in front of opponents feinting relentlessly like he’s got a twitch :witzend: gets his ears boxed off. The Mosley who boxed and moved versus Del a Hoya first time around has a good chance.

Honeyghan was a big, strong welter, Mosley was a natural junior lightweight who moved up to 147 and was certainly not big enough to be competitive with elites at 154. So not a good analogy. Mosley's best W at 147 was over another former lightweight in Oscar.

I'm automatically biased in favor of Donad Curry. Having following boxing since 1976-77, I watched Curry extensively during the 1980's. From 1983 until he lost to Honeyghan in late 1986, he looked unbeatable. Curry beat many outstanding fighters with a wide variety of styles including Starling (boxer-puncher), Hwang (tough as nails brawler), Jones (tough pressure fighter), LaRocca (fluid boxer), and McCrory (tall awkward boxer-puncher). Curry was extremely disciplined, always cool under fire. I think that he finally showed his wear and tear after 400 or so amateur fights and 6 years in the pros when he lost to Honeyghan. No doubt that a dream match with Sugar Shane would have been a barnburner.

Donald Curry in the 80s was a special fighter. I cannot see neither Oscar De La Hoya nor Shane Mosley, at their very best, beating this Cobra.

Mosley must have some mice back in his family heritage somewhere (he certainly showed the heart of a mouse against Pacquiao), because he just cant turn a trick against any snake I can think of...Forrest, Hearns or Curry. Even got a gift draw with Mora!

Pretty much what people thought of Mosley when he beat De La Hoya in 00...people were HUGE on him after that bout. Then along came the truth :DD

Funny how the passage of time works, though. Between 2000 and now, De La Hoya and Mosley mostly acquitted themselves fairly well, IMO --- yet they were considered by many to be potential all-timers back then, not more than a rung or two below your Leonard's and Hearns' --- yet now, people would laugh at such an inference.

Nice post Geoffrey Sadao.... Im a huge Curry fan, I do think he was weight drained the night he fought Honey and also beset my managerial woes.....but I think once that bell rang....Honeyghan on that night was the best fighter curry had faced and curry lost. If Curry hadnt been weight drained and had a clear mind i think he would have weather the early storm and won on points in a good close battle.

Mosley fought quite similar to Curry at welter with that gunfighters stance and rapid fast counters. But Curry was better. I agree 1986 and 1987 were the last peak years of Curry.... he looked good against Mccallum but again managerial problems distracted him, and one second of a lapse against mccallum was all it took.....he never had the same reflexes and speed again or confidence.....

Peak for peak curry beats mosley at 147

I think Curry wins on points.....
