Dale Robinson

In anticipation of the weekends fight, i was checking out Chris Edwards record and came across Robinson. He lost to Edwards, then fought him to a draw for the British title and never fought again, at only 27 years old. Strange to come so close and not even have another shot at it. What's the story there?

Robinson was a good little fighter who I felt would be more successful than he was. Fought a close one with Martin Power with blood all over his face from an early butt, trained by that delightful Chris Aston but more important than all this, was that he used to be a regular poster on here

If my memory serves me right, Dale had to retire due to irregularities with a scan ?
I'm sure some of the Huddersfield lads will know.

His fight with Booth was an absolute cracker. Knocked down and out worked early, then getting back into it only to be knocked down in the 10th or 11th, the pain on his face when he got the standing 8 count with the realisation he has now lost the fight as he'll be way behind on points shows what a compeititor he was and probably winning meant more to him than anything.
Cracking little fighter.

wobbled booth early.was ahead after on pts after 9 rounds, knockdown in 11th cost him fight lost by 1 round...1st to stop delroy spencer...repeated it 18 month later but was already on slide.Would have beaten edwards easy 3 years earlier but enjoyed partying much too much...great little fighter.

Robinson was involved in some good scraps in the early noughties Sky days. Fight with Power could've gone either way. What was his nickname, something to do with lightning or something -ach can't remember.

A very good fighter that on form would have played with Edwards.. We had 2 fights Stopped me in the Am's NABC's Finals i was a head on computer scoring but ran out of Gas, never knew much about him only that he was Tiny and I really under estimated him and thought id stopped him within a couple of round and went all out for the KO.. Then for the British which I took 115-113 gave him a bad head butt in the 2nd which caused a big cut that didn't stop bleeding for the whole fight.... Would like to see him again and say Sorry for that Butt....

That was a bad cut, would you say that was your best win?

It was a good win and an even Match for the Vacant title both had good records.. I think Ward was the best win for me tho I felt that was the best I had boxed....

still in the foxglove..was a part timer then..now a life member...headbutt was in the first...really bad cut, spent all night in hospital doctors thought he had detatched retina...put it down to shock from headbut...was never a bantam...last fight with edwards was his lightest ever 7 12...not involved in any form of boxing.

Sure it was the 2nd either way he went the whole fight with a serious cut blood non stop flowing, seen fight stopped for a lot less and he didn't complane just kept throwing punches. Robertson on form would have played with Edward's before stopping him, if he had done the weight properly he could have done a lot at Fly Weight....
