Patterson is so underated in many ways, but the criticism is fair. He was a proven, battle tested heavyweight following his reign. That being said, Patterson had just as fast of hands as Ali (imho) and his in and out movements made him really effective. Weaver, I admit, I haven't seen much tape on, but judging by his record he was like the rest of the 80s heavyweights, inconsistant. It all depends on which Weaver decided to show up I guess. I give Patterson the edge regardless whether he was young or old version, by points.
